Greetings from Seattle!
« on: May 02, 2018, 04:31:44 am »
Just joined.  Sorry, I don't have a Concours, though I've admired them many times.  The Concours fits my riding desires more than the latest and greatest sport-touring bikes.  It's made for putting the miles behind you without overly insulating you from the experience.  Just a nice blend of comfort and sport.

I live up north of Seattle, between Martha Lake and Mill Creek.  Locals will know where that is.  Those of you who aren't local, will maybe have heard of Seattle.

I like to ride.  Before I retired last April, I commuted on my motorcycle in almost any weather.  My standard answer when someone asks if I rode, is "Is it snowing outside?"  Snow is a four-letter word.  Though I've asked myself at times why I am riding as the snow flakes are coming down and hitting my visor...while my AWD Subaru Outback sits in the driveway.   ::)

My current ride is a BMW F800GT.  I hope you don't kick me out for that.  :D  As a commuter, it is great.  There's just enough fairing to keep most of the weather off you.  It's light at 470 lbs, wet.  It's comfortable.  I've taken it on some trips across the western US, and found it all day comfortable.

So why am I here?  I like to ride, and I've heard there are members here who like to ride also.

I'm hoping I can meet up with some of you, and maybe even contribute on things when it doesn't require knowing about a Concours.

Chris

Daboo, I know of others in Seattle area and I think their getting ready for a ride.
Until I figure that out; Send Dan a PM and he can probably give you info on their coming rides.

Dan, I saw your 2007 Australian Tour photo's.
We need to talk!

PS: Are you by chance, doing the Alps Tour in July??

Ride safe, Ted

My brother also lives between the lake and Mill Creek, just off 3rd. I am near Warm Beach. You might see my brother go by on his dark blue C-14.

Wow!  Especially on that last post, Kelly.  I'm about a block away.  Unfortunately, Cascadian Way and 3rd don't connect, or we'd have seen each other.

I'm thinking about making the Bun Cooler in a couple weeks.  I've cleared out my schedule.  Now I have to see about a motel reservation and if I can register.

Welcome to the Concourium.

Is this Seattle you speak of near California?  :))

ZXtasy...it might as well be near California.  We have a lot of immigrants from California, and they brought their traffic congestion with them.

Okay...I made my reservation and registered.  I'll be at the Bun Cooler!

Welcome to COG, Daboo!  I'm not far from you, in Lake Stevens.  Was registered for the Bun Cooler, but had to cancel when I tore the Achilles playing softball.  No riding for me for a couple months, but hope to meet up with you at a ride later this summer or fall.

Thanks, Steve.  I got your PM and sent my own contact info.

The time will go by quickly.  Heal up.  Maybe we can get together for coffee somewhere near you.

Welcome to COG Chris.  I don't ride a Concours because I'm "vertically challenged".  In other words, I'm short.  My husband, Jorge, does ride a C-14 and I ride a Vulcan S.  The COG people are the best.  The more you get to know them, the more you'll realize we are crazy about riding.  Hope to meet you one day.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Irene!  I'll be at the Bun Cooler in a couple weeks.

I too am "vertically challenged", or like I mentioned at my Life Group last night when we were talking about the chair I prefer to sit in, I'm "compact".  (I like my feet to touch the floor when sitting, so prefer one chair over the others.)

And like you, Irene, I doubt I'll ever get a Concours.  It's a nice bike, but made for bigger souls than me.  If I dropped it, I'd probably need help to get it upright again.  :D

Hey Daboo I was going to meet up with Ninja Breadman for the ride east, unfortunately he pulled his Achilles tendon and will not be going to the bun cooler. If you would like to meet somewhere for breakfast and the ride over send me a PM.
