Greetings from the San Francisco Bay Area
« on: January 06, 2018, 02:09:56 pm »
Hello everyone!

Yesterday I closed the deal on a zero-mile 2017 C14, which I get to pick up in a little bit and I'm super stoked. I've had so many bikes over the years, and in 2012 I settled on sport touring as my favorite style. Since then I've had a 2006 FJR1300, and a 2013 Triumph Trophy SE 1200 (that I'm trading for the C14).

I live in the Bay Area so I get to ride pretty much year round, and I ride pretty much every day commuting from Oakland to Mountain View and back.

Looking forward to getting to know folks around here, and I hope there's a strong community of locals who love to get out and ride. Can't wait to make my first run to Alice's!

Pictures once I get the bike home.

Cheers!

Success! The 75 mile trip home was just enough to settle in and get to know this fine machine. She'll need just a few things - Grip Puppies, larger windshield, handlebar risers - but other than that, I love it.

What dealer did you buy from and how much if you don’t mind? If I don’t get the 2016 I’m trying to buy I’ll be picking one of those up!

Congratulations on the new 2017!  That's a nice looking bike.  If you are looking for a taller windscreen, read my review of the Puig touring windscreen on the forum:

Welcome and nice lookin' blue C14!  :great:

Over time hopefully the saddle works for you too! Many end up replacing that. Also look into Steve's flash if you want to get the most out of your C14.  Off topic, your area shows NorthWest but you're based in SF, might want to correct that or have the admins fix it. :)

Thanks for the tip. I've seen mentions of "Steve's Flash" but haven't any idea what that entails.

As for my selected location, I'll see about adjusting that.

Welcome CK.. Love the color of that bike! Look forward to meeting you at one of our rally's later in the year. We have some folks up there in your area that love to ride! Check out the Southwest area for stuff that is going on. I live and ride down here in Southern California. If you ever travel down let me know.

Indeed it has already begun. Yesterday I ordered Grip Puppies, 2"
risers from Advanced Sport Touring, and an XL windshield from California Scientific.

Up next, the correct mounting kit for my Givi Monokey 46.

Congrats on the new bike and on joining the forum.

I'm in Santa Cruz and pretty much do a Silicon Valley commute everyday there isn't rain or snow in the mountains (not completely personally adverse to rain, just don't like dodging skidding cars on Hwy 17).

There are a few other Bay Area riders in COG, and maybe this will be the year that we coax them to roll their bikes out go for a ride. We had a couple local rides last year. But we can always use more, so feel free to suggest something on the SW events area.

Cheers and hope to see you out there.

Yep, Silicon Valley commute for me, too; I run between Oakland and Mountain View. Not as far, but hey, riding is riding. Glad to hear there are a few others around our neck of the woods. My brother rides an FJR and lives in Boulder Creek. Perhaps we can do a meetup at Alice's one day sooner than later.

Cheers!

Welcome in Kevin. Mark Hartman your ever grateful Area Director. You have several riders up there including my buddy Dan. Your Assistant Area Director is Keith Williams from the Valley and I'm pretty sure he'll be chiming in soon. Congrats on that Blue. Stunning! If you have rides please post them up. Stand by for obligatory membership pitch  ;) There is a section for members only called chalkdust that contains many years of blood sweat and tears and contains so much info Kawasaki references it (this may not be true but you get my point :) ) Not to mention the stunning and highly acclaimed award winning quarterly Concourier magazine (This may also be embellished but IMHO). Enjoy that ride and look forward to meeting you.
