Howdy from Houston
« on: May 24, 2019, 08:20:26 pm »
Hi all, I've been lurking on here for a few weeks and thought I would finally introduce myself.  I'll try to refrain from telling my entire life story, just the highlights, but for me that can be difficult.

So after 19 years of street riding I had my first accident of any kind (including no tip-overs) on April 29th.  I was stopped in traffic and the person behind me forgot which pedal was which.  The repair estimate is $16,500 for a $12,000 BMW K1600GTL, so obviously will be totaled.  This BMW is the first sporty bike I have ever owned and it really surprised me how much I have enjoyed it. After the accident I started looking for a replacement.  Honestly I got a steal on the BMW and will come out way ahead, but I am balancing buying myself a new bike with buying the wife her first ever motorcycle.  I started looking at the Concours as a good choice, definitely less refined than the BMW but loads of fun from what I have read.  A local dealership called me the other day, they took in a 2015 lime green Connie on trade with less than 1200 miles.  I put my deposit down to hold the bike until I can get the check from insurance, but hopefully I can pick it up within a month or so.  Bike is practically new for $10,000 with KPP, I'm very excited!

I live on the far south end of Houston, just a handful of miles north of Galveston, so if anyone here does any group riding or just get-togethers let me know.  I ride with a few groups down here when I have the time, but I am always looking for new routes and comrades.

On a side note, why is Concours not in the spell-check for the forums?

Welcome Sern   :beerchug:
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover – Mark Twain.

Welcome to COG. You're going to enjoy the new ride.

Same here on only bike accident; rear ended at a light...which sent me sailing.
