I'm 40, so I bought an old man bike!
« on: January 30, 2018, 02:29:36 am »
That's what my wife says anyway. I'm new to the concours 1400, but I've been riding for 33 years. Chad here in Gray, GA. Lifetime rider, career Firefighter, husband, and father of three. I've been on every kind of bike you can imagine, and added the C14 to that list Saturday. Got a great deal on a 2008. Hope to attend some get together this year. See you guys and gals on the road.

:welcome: aboard! Nice to have some younger blood here.

Let your wife call it what she wish's. The C14 can leave the youngsters & their sport bikes scratching their heads wondering what just happened.  :motonoises:

Yes, welcome whippersnapper. I had to get a C-14 to slow down a bit as my wife put it, LOL. Worse things than getting old...like not being able to get it up....on one wheel. tragic.

Welcome to the forums!  Funny, some describe the Connie as an old man's bike, but when I bought mine my teenage daughter (who often tells me I'm old) said she thought it was too young and cool for me.   :'(

SE Newsletter? Is there such a thing? LOL. I joined COG about 1.5 yrs ago and have not found one yet (online or in the snail-mail).

I got it Saturday, and have ridden everyday since. Rode to my sons basketball game this evening, and on the ride home it was dark, and 45 degrees. Love the electric windscreen! It's going to make a nice stable partner to my Desert Sled.

Like I stated, I joined COG about 1 and 1/2 years ago and have never received a SE Newsletter, so I assumed (wrong) that there was no such thing.

Is there a separate fee for this?

I get other correspondence from COG, like the Concourier, the membership directory, and the membership renewal notice.

My address and e-mail have been correct since day one and I check junk mail and spam folders regularly (if the newsletter comes via e-mail).

What do I need to do to get put on the list?

Welcome to the forum Chad.
Old man's bike?  maybe, but I think the C14 just proves you don't have to be a gymnast to be able to ride a fast bike :great:
I'm not sure where I am in the age lineup (I just rurned 58), but I do know that there a bunch of guys older than me, and some younger, that can really ride.... while still being comfortable.
Enjoy!!

Not a thing except maybe check your spam filter since the email which was sent to the SE list came from the COG email "alias" and some spam filters might catch that is was part of a mass email and snag it. The other thing is that the list used may have predated you since it was a saved list - (I'll check that next time and get a newer one).

Also, if if you feel "led to volunteer to help ensure it goes out" we could use another set of hands (and fingers on key boards).  ;)  You how it is, if you want something done in a volunteer organization, you may have to pitch in and help.  All these dang volunteers keep running off to ride motorcycles, camp, and goof off. (Me, too)...

Thanks for speaking up. We don't know unless people say something. There is no "return receipt required" on our emails.

(But I was not kidding about helping. Interested? We could use a photographer, ghost writer/editor, and Robert who does our newsletter might could use a co-producer.  Let me know!   :beerchug:

Hi,
       Three kids!.....JEEZ! :o

There's a reason that happens! :-[

(I'll explain it to you sometime!) ;D >:D >:D >:D

Welcome to the Asylum! :great:
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” -Samuel Adams

"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." George Orwell
