Introducing myself
« on: May 17, 2019, 11:29:13 pm »
Just picked up a 2016 concours today. 14500mi on the dial. I’ve lost count of what bike this is. 6th? 9th? I’ve been riding sport bikes long enough and have taken enough rider courses to feel confident on a ZX14. But at 36, I don’t want to hunch over on long rides anymore.

The 2 hour ride home was great. Noticed a few things.

That seat... Hardest soft seat I ever sat on. Lol.

The gear shift indicator is wonky. I think the previous owner put a tre or something on there. It shows 1st in 1/2, 2nd in 3/4, and 5th in 5/OD.

60mph and 120 feel the same. I’m going to have to look into those cruise control threads on here.

That fuel shutoff has to go.

Anyway, I might upgrade to a full membership sooner or later, but I’m just a guest for now.

I probably will get the membership. Considering I just dropped $10k on a bike, I'm a bit short on cash at the moment.  :))

Congrats on your new ride. Welcome!

I have a '13 that I purchased new in '15 and still accessorizing it. I just sent my ECU off to Shoodaben Eng for the "Mountain Runner Premium" flash.

Nice. I'd have to look into them. I'm not looking forward to having my bike down for weeks while it gets flashed.

Oh, wound up paying the membership dues. It broke even on insurance.

:welcome: aboard! You're gonna love the bike & you'll probably start doing some longer distance rides now if you didn't already.

Where in the S/C are you?

I hear you, regarding not "having the bike down for weeks," but I understand you should only be down one (1) week more/less. Steve will flash the ECU the same day he received it and returns it promptly. It's only the ECU in-transit time that could be a concern, unless you ship it Express Delivery...then much quicker. Alternatively, can wait till the coldest part of your winter to have it done, unless you're that die-hard rider...

Great to have you as an official COG'er now!

Welcome Christopher  :beerchug:
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover – Mark Twain.

Welcome. I think you will love the C-14. I know you will love it more after an ECU flash. I kept one of my sportbikes but it is a naked so still comfy by Ninja standards. Enjoy!

Welcome to the group Christopher.  There are great people here.  Check out the calendar in your area and you should be able to participate in events.  If you can make it to the rally in Pennsylvania, that would outstanding!  Enjoy your ride.
