NEW, 1st Kawasaki
« on: June 20, 2017, 10:51:45 am »
Hello, bought my first Kawasaki yesterday, 2012 Concours 14 ABS. Bike is in mint condition, one owner and 5987 miles. Several add ons, Kawasaki top trunk, Cee Baily tall windscreen, Murphs bar risers, Corbin seat front and rear with back rest and brand new Michelin PR4s. Long time rider in just about every form of motorcycling. I ride dirtbikes off road, road race with WERA and own a naked Suzuki streetbike. Done the ADV bike thing the past 15 years but wanted a little more pavement oriented fast bike. Everyone said get a Concours 14 and so I went looking. This was the best deal I come up on.

Here is the bike after 361 mile journey to my shop, sadly this is the first time the bike has ever been in the rain and it ended up filthy after the rain I trailered it home in. It'll clean up though.

Pulling out of the sellers driveway headed to the new home.

Seller could not find the stock windscreen but is having one sent to me off ebay. I prefer it over the tall Cee Bailey screen. I also prefer the stock seat over the Corbin. I also will be removing the Bar risers. Hope to learn a lot here as this is all new to me with the fob thing and all. BTW I am located in Mississippi, please don't hold that against me lol

First order of business....get a new sign for your garage!   :nananana:

second....get rid of that ugly potato launcher on the side of your bike!   :great:

Third....re-train your wrist not to twist or you will be paying a lot of traffic tickets.   :))

haha negative I cannot take the Suzuki love out of the shop, they are my heartbeat on the racetrack.

My 126 hp GSX-R600 racebike

My mean naked GSX-S1000 (GSXR with renthal bars and no body work)

Me and Suzuki go way back but there is a couple of Yamaha's a dirtbike and scooter plus a Honda GROM in the shop as well. I spread out the love among the top 4 Jap companies.

love gsxrs.  I was riding a honda superhawk on the track.  always thought that a gsxr750 was just the right combination of power and weight to be really run on the track.

I have had 5 GSX-R750s and to be honest I never gelled well on the track with them. Loved them as a street bike though. My last 750 which I sold last year.

My biggest challenge racing over the years was the 2011 GSX-R1000 I raced in A expert class for 4 years  :o It was a hand full but in the same sense fun. It made a 170 hp on pump gas with a slip on pipe. No traction control or anything like that.

Stepped away from A class this year to go back to C class where it all started 17 years ago. Kinda miss the wild 1000 but I am liking the 600 handling way better.

my track days were strictly for fun, so you're light years ahead of me.  I started out on a 600 triumph, but loved my v-twin.  One guy once that I was racing around the track with....he was on a GSXR....told me it sounded like a helicopter was behind him.  lol

last winter the COG and MSTA groups did a joint track day at Jennings.  they had a concours/ST day, but some brought their track bikes and stuck around for another day of fun.  you might want to keep an eye out for that.

Track riding is the best. I still enjoy the trackdays due to the more relaxed atmosphere. I still ride on the street at a good clip but it is all toned down due to the danger of going down and hitting something solid. Track riding will make one a better rider. This is a sport built on reflexes and the more you exercise that the better you get at coping with the unthinkable on the street.

I agree, so I shortened mine by 3". Still stealth quiet, but not sticking out like a sore ....

Another new Concours owner stopping by to say hi -- I've got a black one also, and really like it so far.
