New C14 owner and new to Washington
« on: September 30, 2017, 08:29:35 pm »
Hey all,

I am a proud new owner of a 2012 Concours with 12k miles. I haven't owned a bike in 4 years so it will be nice to get back into riding. I hope to have the bike in my possession by the end of October, it's in Southern CA. I am also new to Washington(Seattle Area) so being able to ride will help me explore the area. Upon researching the bike I quickly found this forum and this seems the place to hangout and find other riders.

Welcome MobileWill ! If you're like me, you're going to enjoy getting back on a bike and "being very biased," you picked the right one to do so. Great to have you join us!

Thanks. I have only ever owned 2 Yamaha R1's but never did well on longer rides, so this bike seems perfect for me. The interesting thing about this bike, is I rode it when it was new and was on it when it crossed the 600 mile mark. ;). My father-in-law has been wanting to sell it to me for years. So happy it can finally happen.

I was in Washington/Seattle a few weeks ago.
Didn't have my bike with mew but the roads in the area made we wish I did.

The Area Director should be long soon to say hello.
If he misses your post, look around the Forum for Gumby.

Ride safe, Ted

Welcome MobileWill;
Congratulations on the new C14.  It will put a smile on your face!  There's many good roads for riding here in Washington / Oregon / Idaho.
Post some pictures when you get it here!

Thanks, will do. It has a few upgrades already, engine guards, highway pegs, raised handlebars, and GPS mount but I need to swap that with a phone mount.  28 days and counting until I bring it up here ;).

Welcome to the area! Great choice of bike but also plenty of excellent roads and areas to explore!  :great:

Too bad you don't have the bike now since October is a great time to ride before it colder and wetter.

During the summer months, it's great to get out to the mountains like St Helens and Mt Rainier. As a matter of fact, area director Dan (or was it Charlie?) puts a ride to St Helens every year.  :beerchug:

Then there are rides around the passes like the north (Stevens, Blewett, Snoqualmie)  or south (White, Cayuse, Chinook). Roads are still ride-able but make sure to get heated gear if you don't have it. Olympic peninsula and Hurricane Ridge is great, but also Deception pass to the tulip country / LaConnor is fantastic too.  And these are just examples of Washington rides. Eastern Oregon to Bend and John Day area are miles and miles of unseen vehicles in between.

Either way, welcome and if you can get your ride now, you'll definitely enjoy what is probably the best time to get out while you can!  :nananana:

Looks like we are set to get the bike the weekend of the 28th of October. Guess better late than next Spring or something.

The bike hasn't been ridden much in the last year or two since it was registered PNO. So i hope everything is well with it. Technically the oil has less than 200 miles on it.
