New Connie Owner
« on: June 08, 2017, 05:18:35 am »
Hello from sunny Seattle. (¬_¬)
After a looooong process of elimination, I've finally chosen my new steed.
It is brand new 2016 Connie.  (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)
I've gotten buzz going ever since test-riding a used 2012 Connie almost 2 months ago.
Since then, I've demo ridden half dozen bikes. Only one bike had excited me as much as Connie did. It was 2015 Tiger Explorer, the engine is simply intoxicating.  Since I am coming from ADV bike scenery (V-Strom Dl1000), I wasn't too eager about getting another ADV bike. Besides shaft drive, my second prerequisite was better weather protection. While couple touring bikes I rode provided better weather protection(Trophy and RT), none gave me that special fizzing sensation Connie does.
Connie is an enthusiast's bike with clear emphasis on Sport rather than pure Touring.
It is as steady as Amtrak, as effortless as an airliner.

Cheers...

Congrats on the 2016 and welcome to the forum. There are a number of Coggers living in the Seattle area. If you want to see what this club is all about check the event calendar and come join us. Everyone is pretty easy going and entertaining during social times. (not in a bad way either)  I've been messing with these COG folks since 2009 and have made some good friends along the way. Hope to see you out there. There has to be a story behind the screen name. Tim

Welcome fellow Washingtonian. Nice purchase.  If you ever pass through the dry side of the state look me up, or just wave.

Welcome!  :great: C14 is such a great piece of riding machinery. One downside is all the farkling that begins on this bike!  :))

Thanks guys!
I believe all roadkill goes to heaven - brief summary of my screen name!
Farkling is on my list that is fo'shizzle!
1. Pull back risers
2. Either taller screen or MRA vario lip.
3. Canyon cages bar(s). I had a nasty off (lowside) on my previous bike at 60 mph, (I90 before tunnels) during wet conditions and over earlier accident scene (oil or coolant). Givi crash bar saved not only my leg, but entire side of my bike.
4. maybe...I have a huge Pelican case (about 60-65 liters). I test fitted it on the Connie, it looked silly...So I don't know whether or not I'll be using it.
5. I will add LED light (running) up front cagers see me approaching from behind. It worked flawlessly on my previous bike.

Cheers...

Welcome, RoadKillHeaven!

Congrats on the new bike!  I'm north of Seattle, and also have a 2016 "Duct-tape" gray with about 13,600 miles on it now.  I added risers and Canyon Cages to mine, message me if you have installation questions.  Helibars has the black powdercoated risers which match the handlebars.  I got the "Pilot" version which includes a Powerlet outlet and a Ram ball on the riser.

And since you mentioned RoadKill - I was riding with a group of C14 owners in Oregon early this month.  One of them ran over and be-headed a rabbit on this trip, so his new nickname is Elmer Fudd!

I don't know if you know him.  Michael Mar from the Portland area was our "rabbit-killer".
