New owner of an old Concours
« on: May 18, 2017, 08:01:28 pm »
Hi,

When looking for a Sport Touring bike I narrowed my choice down to the BMW and Concours.  Well... Since I'm here, you know I chose wisely.

I'm a new owner of a 1995 Concourse Project bike.  Needs a lot of work, but luckily I like restoration as much as riding.

I've spend the past week freeing the binding calipers and cleaning up a plugged carbs.  At least now she runs!

I look forward to learning from the group!

You better do some research before you hydrolock  it. Don't start it again.

Welcome!   :beerchug:

I rode a 2004 C10 a decade ago, and re-entered the cult with a 1989 C10 last year.  Something about the old girl brings you back, especially after you became familiar with every nook, cranny and farkle.  ;D

Best of luck bringing yours back into productive life!  Since you've started with carb work, make sure you look into the hydrolock issue the factory fuel system is prone to, so your happiness doesn't end up short-lived!

Yes, I have.  Luckily, my auto petcock is working great for now.  But I am aware.   I will be adding the overflow tubes shortly.   Thanks!

Welcome!!!  Most of us are quite biased, but we think both generations of Connies are great bikes.
Get her sorted out, then enjoy for a long time :great:

Hey Jerry
Tried to send someone your way about your connie for sale a while back.  Have any luck selling it?  Hope you're doing well!
