New to me 2012 Concours 14
« on: October 21, 2019, 03:52:48 pm »
Picked up a beautiful 2012 this weekend.  I'm upgrading from a 2014 Honda CTX700 - as you can imagine, this Concours 14 is a lot more bike.  Drove it home about 200 miles and it is a dream.  Very smooth and handled the wind really well.  Excited to learn more about these bikes now that I'm an owner.

Apparently it is totally stock - just the way I prefer to buy - now on to personalize it!

Welcome. Btw, you do have aftermarket bar risers on it.

I was wondering if it had risers installed.  Was actually going to post a photo and ask that today!  I found a little numbness with my right hand after about an hour riding - need to get a cruise control added so I can shake out that hand occasionally.

I had issues with my hands because of some arthritis when I got mine. Grip Puppies increased the diameter of the grips and I don't have that issue except on longer rides now. Even then it's not as bad. Might give them or other brands a try & it's cheap.

+1 grip puppies over stock heated grips, heat function still works fine.

Great looking bike -- didn't know they came in that color (of course, that's one of many things I don't know).  I put a Kaoko "throttle lock," they call it a "throttle stabilizer," on my new-to-me `09 for the same reason... seems to be more or less the same quality of the now out-of-business Throttlemeister and the install was five minutes (and two of that was finding the Locktite...)

I'll check out the grip puppies and the throttle item.

This is the largest bike I've owned and I'm just floored by the power!  Haven't even taken it past 7,000 rpm yet and I'm grinning from ear to ear!

Do these bikes have an invisibility cloak to help keep from having police problems?   :D

I'm digging this color too btw - really gorgeous!

Welcome YK. Your gonna like it here. Come ride with us!!

I didn't like the Grip Puppies as I don't like water absorbent foam, and the OD was too large for my tastes.
Found other Slip-on grips that are a rubber, smaller OD, and cost only about $3.00.  :great:

Work great for me.

Ride safe, Ted

PS: Put a "Flash" on your list of "NEEDED" farkles.
      More power/smoother/(not $3.00) but worth every penny! {E'nuff sed}

Thanks for your recommendations and comments - obviously this is going to be a great board to belong too from the wealth of info I'm finding and helpful members!

Bought a barely used Two Brothers slip on from a board member yesterday.  Plan to get the Flash done in the near future too!

Ted,

What other slip on grips did you use?

I found these 1 day while searching for something on Ebay.
Thought I'd try them. Surprisingly, I like them.

Fastest Color Ever!!! Congrats! I also found it handled the wind better than my previous bike. don't know if it's the fairing configuration or the weight but it sure made crossing the Mackinac Bridge on a windy day much easier. :great:
