New Western Washington 05 C-10 owner
« on: June 03, 2017, 01:10:17 am »
Hi all name is Grant and i just had a 2005 Concours given to me. The bike has been dropped a few times and has had some red neck body work performed on it, but WTH I never look a gift iron horse in the mouth and it was FREE  :motonoises: :) Like I said it had been dropped so I am in the market for fairing parts.
I plan on getting the body work all straightened out and painted then I want to have it wapped. I am going to attempt to make the bike look like an F-4 Phantom with all the markings from my old Marine Corps squadron.

Welcome!   :beerchug:

Sorry that your bike isn't as  fast as an 89, but that isn't your fault.  ;D

You happened upon the right place to tackle anything you need to learn about your new toy.  Join COG, get involved locally, it's a great group & a great bike!

Welcome, sounds like a score. Let me know if you need/want help with design layout, that's what I do. Got pretty much positive results on an '07 ZX-10 I did.
F4's are some of my favorite jets, built several large scale models of them as a kid.

Grant congrats on the C10 and welcome to the forum. The North West does have a somewhat active group. Like already said be sure to check the North West event calendar. In June there is the longest day ride. Meet over there on your side of the mountain and run the North Cascades.  Lunch in Chelan and then back home. If I make this event, I'll leave the crowd in Chelan and head for home since at that point I'm 25 miles from the house.  Then in August there is the regional Rally in Colville.

http://www.cog-online.org/clubportal/EventDisplayNew.cfm?clubID=1328&EventID=241640&mo=8&tDate=%7Bd%20%272017%2D08%2D03%27%7D

There are a number of other things going on as well. Any would be worth while.

I have never met anyone who is a COG member face to face I didn't like. I must admit however a couple of guys have caused a raised eye brow or two. But in the end it was probably unwarranted.

Hope to see you out there....Tim

Thanks I may take you up on that.  Tried this post several times with pictures but each time the entire post disappeared while loading.
Anyway the bike is coming along nicely, after some extensive surgery to the fairing support I now have all the eBay find plastics fitting nicely. Now waiting on a windscreen, a factory piece also found on eBay that is in great shape to show up. In the mean time I will blow it back apart to body work and paint the parts individually. I shouldn't have any trouble finishing it by August and possibility debuting it in Colville.  :)  All in all should turn out to be a very nice bike for under $600.

It's a long ride for me but I hope I can make it too. We have property on the Pend Oreille River maybe the wife and I can make a dual-purpose trip.

Hi Grant -
Welcome to COG from Lake Stevens, WA!  I won't be at the Colville ride, but will probably run into you at one of the other events.

So Grant, can you find the nice B&W line drawing of both sides of the bike, likely in the owners manual or factory service bible?  I searched on line and asked two C-10 owners in town but nothing. If you can scan and email me the images I would like to play with laying out some of the markings ideas.

That would be awesome. I think I can use the coloring book option in Photoshop and get what you need with actual pictures of the bike.
I will also see if I can find some pictures of our squadron car. It was a 59 Cadillac painted to look like one of our birds, it is where the idea of doing to my bike came from.

Well made it official, just placed my order for full COG membership. I have also made the decision to purchase a new C-14 as soon as my Duramax pickup is paid off, should be ridding the new bike by the start of next riding season of shortly thereafter. I will keep the C-10 as it has way more sentimental value then monetary value to me. In order to satisfy my American V-Twin roots I am also pulling an old project from the loft of the barn. The project bike is a low and long 300mm fat tire pro-street style Soft-tail. At current the project bike consists of,  a Sante frame set up for a twin cam, a baker 6-speed with right hand final drive and an oil bag so there's a long ways to go yet.

If you like the C-10, you'll love the C14.  I've had mine about 18 months now and put over 15K miles on it.  Happy riding!
