Newbie saying Hi.
« on: January 18, 2017, 07:07:21 am »
I am picking up my new to me 2002 Concours Thursday (if it doesn't rain).  This will be my second bike.  I got a late start to riding and started on a Vstar 650.  After commuting for 3 years I decided I wanted some more creature comforts and found this bike for 1800.  I will have ton of questions but for now HI.

WELCOME!!!

You'll find a wealth of knowledge on a great bike here.  Browse around, ask many questions, and you'll find out.
BTW, Steve Sefsick's shoodabeenengineering site has great videos on care, feeding, and improving for the C10.  Don't remember if it's .com or .org.  Steve's also on the forums as Steve in Sunny Florida.  An expert on all things Concours.

Enjoy the ride! :motonoises: :motonoises:

Hi Lee,  I'm not even trying that last name in your profile  :-\

Welcome to the forums.  The club has great info, people and rides for the C10.  I just traded up last year to a 14 I got used and the fine people here help me as I fixerup.

If it makes a difference to you someday...  You are in North Central COG area I think, not South Central.

Welcome!   :beerchug:

If you haven't read it already, here's a great thread about the care and feeding of a 15 year old bike...

I guess it was raining, the deal fell through or the unthinkable because he has not returned since the first post on the 17th.

Hi Lee. If you're over in Murphysboro you're actually in North Central. I'll buy you a cup of coffee if you get over to C'dale. PM me.

Sorry I was off the semester was a lot harder than anticipated (SIU).  I actually did buy it off a gentleman that works at SIU.  So far its been a real good bike.  Now I am looking to get those scoops the face-book group mentioned.

Thanks to all.  I really enjoy the bike.  I do have one gripe that's the fuel gauge but one way or another I'll be fixing that soon.  Now to find scoops for it.  I'm going to search the forum for more upgrade ideas (LED etc)

Welcome Lee - the knowledge base runs deep within the club supporting the classic Concours. Paid club members have access to the full online library which includes Concourier magazine archive with tech articles and the Best of Chalkdust technical compendium. Check out the online calendar of events and come meet some of the club members and kick the tires of COG. The face-2-face gatherings is where the magic happens in this club.

There is more to be gained by members raising hands saying "I'll do that" instead of pointing fingers saying "nobody's doing that."
