New guy in the Denver area
« on: July 29, 2018, 12:15:11 pm »
Hi folks,

Been lurking since May when I put my Vulcan Nomad up for sale (been thru 2 years of C14 General & Accessories threads). I've been wanting a Connie since they came out. And I finally convinced the finance minister that getting another bike wasn't the worst thing in the world for a 64 year old guy to do. Need to stay young at heart after all. So, I'm picking up a 2015 C14 Monday. I'm looking forward to meeting some folks and going on some rides. And I sent in my COG application earlier this morning.

For those interested, I'm getting it from a local motorcycle consignment shop. It has 8,990 miles, Kawasaki trunk and bar riser out the door for $10k including tax. First farkle is a new Shoei GT-Air helmet. With a somewhat limited (negotiated) farkle budget I will be getting a reflash the end of next month, probably Steve's MR for ridablility improvements.

Any suggestions on the best (cheapest) place to get the FSM?

Hope to meet you in person soon.

Leo

Hey Leo, Welcome to the fun! Mark Hartman your ever grateful SW Area Director here. Love me some Colorado. Sounds like you got a great deal. We have a meet and greet coming up on No AZ with some great riding. http://www.cog-online.org/ClubPortal/EventDetailPublic2.cfm?clubID=1328&eventID=252759 Sometimes you see FSM's pop up here. I'll have to remember where I bought mine.

Hey Mark. I've been watching the meet & greet thread. I really wish I could come over. But I'm going into the negative on vacation days already this year. And, I'm not sure about that length of trip yet... Sucks getting older in some ways. But if someone else from the Denver area is going I might force myself into it.   :o  ;D  :motonoises:  :beerchug:

Welcome MtnRider. Your gonna enjoy the group. {even Mark}

Don't believe Irene when she talks good about Mark.

          Rides like a girl.
                And, he's a Marine!   arghhhhhhhhhhhh    :-\

Ride safe, Ted {Fly Navy}

Damned Ted. It's good Leo! We'll get you sucked into the next event  ;) Enjoy, be safe and be active. If you have an idea for a meet up or ride let me know and we can get the word out. Did I mention Damned Ted? (You know he was a taxi driver for the Marine Corps right? Just a delivery vehicle for a serious warhead of amphibious................skill sets).  :beerchug: :)

Thanks Irene, Ted.

Harry, I may have to head up there and see the artist I'm person. Or maybe meet up around Ft. Collins and go up into the mountains. Might even get an "in person" signed book.   :beerchug:

Ted, why are they all picking on you so much?    :??:  Or maybe I don't really want know.....    :-\   :beerchug:

I think I'll get along just fine with Mark. That description (work, drink, ride) fits me too.   ;D :great:

That's why I used the description.
It fit's him well, and also fit's a lot of us.

NOTE: I was in the Navy, he was in the Marines.
Both have a lot of respect for the other service, but we enjoy picking at one another about it..
Mark's ok. Good guy. Even though he's a Marine....
               {Don't tell him I sed that}.

The rest of the picking is done in fun. All of us are good friends.   {except Harry} :rotflmao:

NOTE: They mostly pick on "me" because their all jealous of my extremely good looks, pleasing personality, and I have the fastest colored Connie {2014/red} ..

Now ya'll notice that Mr. Ted has the respect and common decency to spell Marine with a Capital M as the Commandant intended. And I suspect that lurking in Harry's twisted up little mind is a cartoon with someone riding pillion steering with Ted's handlebar 'stache. Don't know for sure, maybe planting seeds, but a damn funny visual.  :beerchug:

You guys could meet me in the middle, say Denver :D , and we could have a great time riding in the mountains. I have 2 extra beds, 3 extra bedrooms, a blow up mattress and a stocked liquor cabinet and lots of good restaurants and home cooked meals.      :great: :great::beerchug: :beerchug: :beerchug: :beerchug:  ;D ;D

Thanx for the invite. Mark prefers a blow up "sheep"..

Would love to head that way for a ride, but just got back, and paid for the Alp's rally.
$$ for trips are a bit tight right now....

Good riding in them mountains between Fort Collins and Denver. Just say when and I'll be there.

Ted thinks he's got the fastest color, but he's color blind and don't know better.  :))

MtnRider, I know what you mean about the retirement..
I did it, and now enjoying all the riding I can.

Do consider next years COG National in Pennsylvania.
I seldom miss one of the Nationals..

Hey, my COG # showed up.    :great:  :beerchug:  :)

Hhhhmmm, 2k trip to the east coast & back. Sounds like fun once I get the seat modified. Maybe I can tag along with Mark & crew.

Harry we'll have to meet up sometime in September.  Meet up at Lucile's in Ft Collins for breakfast. Great food if it's like the one in Littleton.
