Soon to be new owner, not new rider!
« on: June 19, 2017, 04:48:20 pm »
Waiting to pick up my new ride, dealer says it was delivered to them but they need 24 hours for the battery to charge.  They brought it in from another shop.  Makes my 4th bike, first was a Ninja 9R, after that I had a Blackbird.  Sold that back in 2003, last year I inherited a BMW F800ST which is nice but small for my 6'4 290 body, and especially when I add a passenger.  Talked with a dealer last week, they are taking the 800 in on a trade, I am hoping my knees will enjoy the larger bike!  Already ordered peg lowering kit, shopping for a screen and top case!

I'm assuming the Farkle rack replaces the stock plastic one?  Then the SHAD universal will mount to it, leaving me with really only the mount attached to the case?!  I sure hope so!

There are many racks offered to replace the stock rack.
I think "Phil's Rack" is the most used.
There are several/better ways to mount a trunk on the Rack than the Universal adapter.
Others can expand on that information.

Do you intend to use a Shad Trunk?
There are hundreds of trunks available...

To elaborate on Ted's post....

If you are going with Phils Rack, which is an EXCELLENT choice, he has designed it so that a Givi MonoKey top box will mount directly to the rack. No adaptor plate needed. Which will leave you with a nice clean look for when the trunk is NOT on your bike.

I am intending on getting a shad box, I left the BMW box on the BMW at time of trade.  I have looked at the GIVI and really prefer the locking design of the shad case.  The left opening design is nice so you don't actually have to LOCk the box to lock it.  If that makes sense.  I did pick up the bike on Tuesday, my knees did not appreciate the change and already got the lowering kit on, adjusted the shifter down to my preference which gave me some relief but I am looking for more knee relief if anyone has ideas!

Another new owner stopping by to say hello.  I am leaning toward the Givi topcase myself, trying to decide whether to pick up the phased out E55 or go with the new V56.
