Yet another new guy.
« on: June 11, 2018, 06:26:06 pm »
I've had my new (0.0 miles on it) 2012 for half a week now and so far I love it.  There's the usual little stuff that I knew was coming by reading this forum.  The linked brakes are going to go, one of these days.  I'm 6'2" so a taller/different windscreen this fall will also be a must, and maybe an exhaust and remap at some point.  But, coming off of a RC51 this thing is amazing in power and handling!  I look forward to learning more about it and sharing my experiences.

1981 KL250 - ridden to death

Welcome Eric. A lot of the members are in Texas right now for the National Rally. Sure before too long you'll be hearing from some around your area. A few of them have been posting pictures from their trip to Texas on the COG Facebook. Great bike and as you will see getting your ECU reflashed is an inexpensive upgrade.

Welcome Eric. You'll like it here.
Come ride with us!

Don't have to remove the linked brakes.
Just re-learn yourself to "not" use the rear brake {except in an emergency}.
        Works GREAT!!

Compared to a RC-51,,, you sed  amazing in power and handling??
Wow, that even impresses me.
I woulda thought the RC-51 would be better on both..

Ride safe, Ted

I grew up on 650 Nighthawks and a V65 Sabre, and I've never gotten used to the RC51 seating position.  As for power, it has plenty down low, but the top end pull you get with a 4 cylinder just never happens...  I hopped on the Connie at the dealership and felt more at home on her within 5 miles than I ever have on the RC.  I'm looking forward to riding this bike for many years!
