One close call....  The rider balanced the small section between cars very well...

Newtonian Law.  Stupid hurts!  For a variety of reasons drivers of oncoming vehicles have a very hard time determining the speed of a approaching motorcycle. If they think you are far away because you are a small object, their misperception becomes their "mis-reality" and they turn left in front of you because they believe you are further away than you really are. Speeding any time can have dyer consequences, but speeding where there are driveways, intersections, and oncoming vehicles can kill.
