Be careful out there
« on: May 27, 2013, 05:45:45 pm »
I was out enjoying the holiday with a loop south from Fort Worth, down to Granbury, over to Stephenville, and then up 281 to Mineral Wells and back. Great ride for the first hundred miles, good weather and lots of bikes out. Unfortunately. Just north of Stephenville, I came upon a serious motorcycle wreck. Not sure if fatal, but strong possibility it was.

I think the bike was a BMW, but hard to tell. It was severely mangled. Range Rover on opposite shoulder with airbags deployed and lots of damage to driver side - classic left turn in front of oncoming bike. The highway was shut down both ways and it looked like ambulance had already left with rider. Range Rover driver wAs leaning on hood of his vehicle head down.

Folks, keep your heads on swivels and just assume they are coming.

I hate seeing things like that. I have had too many close calls like this. That's why I use a headlight modulator on my bikes. I can say without a doubt that the instances of folks pulling in front of me has drastically reduced. I won't say it never happens. But it isn't very often. But you still need to pay attention and ride defensively. Because you never know when someone won't see you, or misjudge your distance for what ever reason.

Yup  be careful ,another one nearby here on a country road :( =

STOUGHTON —  Four people were taken to a hospital after a car and three motorcycles collided  on Bay Road Sunday night.
The crash occurred at about 6:53 p.m. on the Easton line, Easton Fire Lt. Evan Malone said Monday.
One car was traveling north on Bay Road and five motorcycles were driving south together when three of the five bikes collided with the car, Malone said. The driver of the first motorcycle collided with the car head-on, he added.
That driver was taken by ambulance to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries, police said. Another motorcyclist was taken by Easton ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Also transported with non-life threatening injuries were two elderly people from the car involved, who were taken to Norwood Hospital.
Easton and Stoughton responded.   No further information was available Monday
