Some very good points, JB, and I'm glad I live in NH where every road is the one less traveled.

I understand that there are people that live in deep in the heart of capital cities and have no choice but to be the exception to the rules if they so choose to ride at all.  But there are others that have the margin of safety based on where they live and choose to ignore it, these are the ones I'm referring to.  Generally speaking still though, there is more than one way to get from point A to point B, and all hours of the day to decide when to do it and in what weather and what gear to wear.

I would never have a motorcycle as my only means of motorized transportation, simply too dangerous.

Motorcycling, and doing it safely IMHO isn't about following choreographed do's and don'ts under given situations, but taking all environmental considerations into account thoroughly and objectively and then basing your final decision on risk vs. reward.
