Stretch the weekend, and include some whitewater rafting, makes for a full experiance....
Last time we did Bridge day, it coincided with a "release day" when they open the dam on the upper Gauley, and double the flow... turns class V rapids to class VI like right now quick...we did both upper and lower sections..wow...something you have to do once in your life...no promises on repeating it, as it can be a bit.... :-\
Unfortunatly this years release dates don't coincide with bridge day, but bracet it, so its still worth the ride..

We stayed at Rivers, near Summersville, and the "rustic" cabins worked for us, at the time, and as they are near the bridge, the combo of rafting and accomodations, was a no brainer.. cost wise. Hotels fill fast, and kinda charge a premium for that weekend, so the rafting/cabin/bridge day thing worked perfect.

If you might be thinking of doubling up the adventures, book soon, like now...  :great: :great:
The roads between the bridge and Webster springs are great, for sure... :great: :great:

Bridge day is a cross between and county fair & Community days...............

Watching folks jump from the bridge is a must do! But, the bridge is crowded and can cause me to hit panic attack!
there are vendors on both sides of the bridge selling EVERYTHING you can imagine.

you can buy a pass that will allow you to ride the shuttle bus down under the bridge to the landing area. We have friends that say this is the only way to watch!

There are activities in town and many of the local fire companies and churches have events going on too.

We've been to the Bridge so many times that some times we skip it completely and just ride the wonderful roads in the area.

the website should provide any additional info your looking for.

when do the jumps happen?  is there a certain time of the day, or they go off all day long?  trying to get a sense of when to be in the right place at the right time.  I looked through the site, but it didn't really provide any type of schedule.

They start jumping around 9:00 AM and go until 3:00 PM IIRC............

One jumper about every 20/30 seconds.
Oh, did I mention the Catapult? yep jumping isn't thrilling enough, lets get Thrown off the bridge! Just like Wiley Coyote

The catapult is really cool!

It's air driven and doesn't move all that fast but the Jumper is flung over the edge like a bag of trash!
I think they pay an extra $100 to use it.
