COG & NER Factory Five Factory Tour
« on: February 11, 2018, 07:04:16 pm »

Factory Five is the world's largest manufacturer of component car kits and they are right here in our backyard! These are not your father's kit cars that use a doner Beetle or Fiero!

Join us at their factory for a tour of the facilities on March 3rd 2018 at 10 am and find out how they design and manufacture these beauties.

After the tour, some of us will likely congregate somewhere for lunch. Not being very familiar with Wareham, I have not, yet, chosen a restaurant. Any suggestions, regardless of whether you will attend the event are appreciated.

For more information, see their website: https://www.factoryfive.com/

We have another gathering to attend that day but we hope to still make this event and check out the cool kits and get some info on them  :great:

Thanks for putting this together!  :beerchug:

Looks like we can make it so just finished signing up. Hope to see a bunch more coggers at the tour or at least for lunch.

Things are looking good.  Between COG and New England Riders, we are in double digits for attendees already.  I'm looking forward to it.  Bring your checkbooks!  :))

Just a week away. I have promised to give Factory Five a headcount sometime early this coming week. If you haven't said you were coming yet, time to decide whether it fits on your calendar and do so.

A good lunch spot seems to be: http://velsrestaurant.com/

A little far for a day trip, but I've done it before. And I really like stuff like this. But unfortunately I will be at another COG event that will prevent me from going. I hope you all have a great time. I'm kind of bummed.

I understand.  You can't do everything.  Perhaps next time.

No power at Factory 5 this morning, so no tour.  A few of us who showed up anyway were led on an impromptu ride by Lyle Cooper for a Meet and Greet at Fisher's Pub in Middleborough.

I expect to reschedule this event, but do not currently have a Saturday in mind.  Stay tuned and I'll post a new event when I've been able to arrive at a new date.

Wayne & Ed,

Thanks for trying to put on this event. It was sad to see all the downed trees and power lines and so many people without power for so long.
Hopefully they are all up and running soon and we look forward to attending the rescheduled event.

Coop, Thanks for taking us on a typical COG run which included the little bit of dirt road and of course the mandatory U turn  :rotflmao:
and Fisher's was awesome.

Mother Nature conspired against us earlier this month and knocked out power to Factory Five. We're going to try it again.

Factory Five is the world's largest manufacturer of component car kits and they are right here in our backyard (Wareham, MA)! These are not your father's kit cars that use a doner Beetle or Fiero!

Join us at their factory for a tour of the facilities on April 7, 2018 at 10 am and find out how they design and manufacture these beauties.

After the tour, we will be having lunch at Vel's Family Restaurant, nearby.

For more information, see:

Factory Five - https://www.factoryfive.com/
Vel's - http://velsrestaurant.com/

If you weren't signed up for the March date, please sign up on the event calendar: http://www.cog-online.org/clubportal/EventDisplayNew.cfm?clubID=1328&EventID=249868&mo=4&tDate=%7Bd%20%272018-04-07%27%7D

If you were signed up and can't make the new date, please visit the event calendar and "unregister" so we have as accurate a headcount as possible.

If you were signed up and are still coming, you're all set.

Cheers,
Wayne.

Roughly a week to go before the Factory Five tour. If you haven't signed up (note: "Interested" in a Facebook event isn't signed up) and are coming, I'd appreciate it if you did indicate you were coming so I can give Factory Five and Vel's a "headcount heads-up."

You can let me know on the NER Facebook event (https://www.facebook.com/events/1636885486418566/) , the COG Facebook event (https://www.facebook.com/events/157139718332853/), the COG event calendar page (https://cog.memberize.net/clubportal/EventDisplayNew.cfm…), send me a message, e-mail. Heck, just let me know!

Thanks.

You and your friend (& their checkbook) are all set.

I don't know what I did wrong that doesn't allow guest registration.  I even Had Greg look at it ... no joy.

Thanks for letting me know.  We'll see you in Wareham, MA on Saturday.

Success! Factory Five had power! A good-sized group attended a very interesting tour. I'm not sure how many of the attendees will be buying kits. If you do, I'd like a ride!

A big Thank You to Wayne & Maryann for putting this event together. We had a nice turnout and a very
interesting tour. Lots of questions from the group but our tour guide answered them all and provided a lot of info for potential
buyers  :great:  The lunch stop after the tour was very good as well so Thanks to Steve & Rita for that suggestion and setup.

I'll offer to help assemble one of the kits if someone steps up to purchase one  :)

Thanks again to all involved and who took the time to attend.

And I kind of stayed home doing not a lot today. Sorry I missed it. But I'm glad it went over well for the folks who went.

Thank you Wayne and Mary Ann!   Very interesting tour.  I love these ideas of incorporating touristy kinda stuff.
The tour gave me all sorts of appreciation for the people who both create/craft kit cars and the enthusiasts that put them together/finish them.
