Greg and Russell’s Back Yard of favorite ROADS. [PA-MD]
« on: March 28, 2017, 12:08:36 pm »
You won't want to miss this one!  When Russell and Greg argue over which one has the best roads to ride on, you can't lose on either ride.  I can't wait to see what they come up with when they work together.   :motonoises:   :great:

April 23, 2017 come out and ride in Greg’s and Russell’s Back Yard of favorite ROADS.
Meet for breakfast at 8:30 am at Dutch Country Restaurant, 946 Baltimore Street Hanover PA. We will have tables in the back room of the restaurant for the group. After a very good breakfast around 9:15 it will be time to ride.
Ride a 160-mile ride on some of Greg and Russell favorite road that we ride when we only 2 hours to ride. As always you know that you will not wear out the center of you tire. The best part is in the last 3 year most all of these roads have been repaved.
Ride ends in Biglerville PA at a nice little Restaurant.

Here is the link to the event for registration.  Please let us know if you plan to attend or register, so we can get a head count for the restaurants.

Greg and I checked the route out yesterday and we took a lot of tread of the side of the tire. See you on the 23th.

Russell tweaked the ride to perfection, and the GPS route is attached.  Please make every attempt to download the route to your GPS before the event since there are no guarantees the route can be shared right before the start of the ride.

I agree that the weather is looking great. The forecast now shows no rain and temps will be in the lower 60's with some sun.   :motonoises:

I see 24 downloads of the route map above.  That is the best way to get your route. It keeps Russell away from his laptop and lets him finish his muffin.  Hope to see everyone tomorrow.

It was great seeing at least 3 new riders at the COG event, and also Mike and Harvey showed up again :beerchug:  Like Matt mentioned, we did lose a large group including Russell, Greg, and Ronnie or at least they didn't show up for the lunch by the time we left.  Someone needs to report in on that one, and hope everything is ok.  ::)

We all had a chuckle when the GPS had us in circles after we circled the dam.  One group was going one way, our group was going the other way, and about the same time we passed each other, two lone rider's were off to the side on each side of the road.  :rotflmao:  :rotflmao:  Fortunately we got back on track, and thanks for letting us tag along with your group Matt.  I bet that Ninja 250 will sleep good tonight, since he got a workout.  :motonoises:

The weather was near perfect, and nice roads!

It was kind of funny,  I was in the back & John would put on his directional  for the turn & Steve who was leading  would go straight   :-[ , finally  we come to a left turn  where Steve & Jack went straight,  John  made the left & i had a tough decision,  go straight & possibly get lost or go left with John who knows the area ( yup went left)  :rotflmao: we all did meet up at the rest area on 15 & regrouped   :beerchug:

Yeah, it did end up being funny in the end.   :rotflmao: John and I were struggling since the announced arrival points in my Sena S20 were overriding the turn announcements, and sometimes the arrival point was off the map far enough that there wasn't a clue showing for the turn.    So if the arrival point was at or near the intersection (only happened twice), you needed to sort of guess whether to go straight or turn before the next route leg calculated.    Of course we had to hear Jack's obligatory comment...... "that's why I don't use those things and use a compass"  Classic!   :great: :beerchug:   In the end, Russell's route was as solid as ever, and we were able to pick up the needed next via points.

Those fancy GPS units also have really nice compasses if that's what you are looking for.... :nananana:
