I just signed up and booked a room for Thursday - Sunday.  this will be my 5th Dog Days and I have enjoyed the previous 4.  As has been stated, some great riding in that area and I am tired of the boring roads in north Georgia   :D

Jerry,
We were in Staunton for the second weekend in a row!
Riding was WET and Foggy on the parkway but the Food and Beer in town was great!

Had dinner at the new Pho restaurant.
http://www.snapdragonpho.com/

And Gelato afterwards at the Banana Split just across the street.

Several other new places have opened. We found a grunge bar only a couple blocks from the motel and there is a new Cheap Steak House downtown! Coggers should like that!

I wish there was a facility in Staunton that we could host a National. It's such a great location.
BOOK THOSE ROOMS!
Jason

The HSTA, now MSTA, held a national in 2006 at the old Staunton Hotel downtown.  We had 400+ in attendance and was a great place for a National.

I didn't think the Stonewall Jackson had that many rooms! I'll do some research.
jason

You're correct, and there was over flow at the Howard Johnson and other hotels in the area.

I had a trip planned for this weekend that I had to cancel due to a back injury. If I'm feeling better (much better at this rate), I'd like to ride down. It might take the sting out of missing my TN/NC trip.

GSJay, when are you leaving for Staunton? Maybe I can hook up with you guys.

I'm not leaving Johnstown until Saturday Morning.............the better half can't get off work on Friday and instead of riding in in the Dark we'll just leave Saturday.

I won't take Skyline!
Lots of great roads between us and Staunton, without traffic or fees to ride them.
Is Brett coming? We could all meet in Bedford?

Well, I am in SC, having "moved" here. Getting drivers license today.

Won't be up that way unfortunately, this takes precedence.

I'm sure I'll make another DD in the coming years, the ones I've been to were fun.

Well I had a nice time in Staunton this weekend..............

But I've got to ask where were all the COGGERS?

When I arrived Saturday afternoon there where like 3 coggers at the motel.

Last year we had 20!

Well I had a great time also. 250 and 39 a couple times. WV and VA  roads and scenery continue to amaze me.  Excellent food in Staunton. Hung and rode with some old (not physically..lol)  friends  and met and rode with some new ones. Took the long way home just to get in some more quality saddle time.  That's what it's about! Thanks Jason for setting DD up again.

Steve Smith, our NE AD is starting to work on next years ride schedule...............

This years attendance at Dog Days, in Staunton Va. was less than expected.
Two years ago we had 30 some folks in attendance. This year, less than 10.

Should we try Staunton again? Look for a new Venue? Cancel the event? Go back to Camping?

I'm ok with NOT being in charge of this event. It's not in my backyard. If someone else has a plan and wants to step up please YELL OUT!

Looking for constructive comments.
tks.

I participated 2 years ago. I had a great time.  Would have been there this year but life happened.
I liked the hotel and Staunton. Would plan to go again this year and bring some friends.

You don't do motels at any price?
The Ho Jo  was less than $70.00 for two people w/ limited breakfast and within walking distance of a great small downtown.
You'd rather camp?
Just asking.

Jason,
Must have just been an off year. Every year I look forward to your shindigs in Staunton for some great food, friends and riding. It would be a shame to give up cuz of one bad year. BTW: I was there.

I thought about trying out the new location. I haven't been to Dog Day's since what was probably the last Marlinton rally. I admit that I decided against this year mainly because we decided to do the fall Bar Harbor rally. That would have made it a little tough to try to do both this year. But maybe next summer, who knows.

A group of us is headed to Staunton, Va. and the HO JO this weekend............

Weather looks great! Might be the last time we can get off the mountain before the big chill.

Lots of room. All welcome.
Most arriving Friday late afternoon.
