Any rides taking place in the tri-state area--NY, NJ, CT, LI?
Preferably Sunday but could rearrange stuff to free up my Saturday.
Thanks.

We have a meet and greet coming up on Sunday, 3 Aug, in CT. It will start at Apollo's pizza in South Windham and go to the Vanilla Bean just a bit north. I will be posting the event in the calendar shortly and will post something in the forum to point toward the calendar listing.

Thanks Brian. That's only about a 2 1/2 hour ride for me.   :)
The food better be good.
Anything going on this w/e closer to NYC, CT area?
I know there's a ride in MA to some state parks but that's a bit out of my reach unfortunately.

We've never been to that restaurant so are going by reviews and photos only. But beyond good, it will be free 'cause you are buying.... right? :-)

It does not seem that anyone is setting up any rides / M&G's in western CT. We did have a pretty large M&G in Trumbull, CT earlier in the year that involved three different groups (CT / RI, L.I. NY and Hudson River area NY) with a great turn out. But I doubt there will be more than one or possibly two of those per year as that area is a long way from us (2 hours each way).

Your best bet for rides is with Roger Mercer  on the island, or if you can get through NYC then possibly northern NJ or the Hudson River Valley area with Ben Otunu.

And remember, you can always set up your own rides anytime / anywhere you want. Any COG member can do so. Set up a ride out on the island if you want; Roger will help you with that and he can put it in the COG calendar also. In fact, most AAD's really like it when area members set up events in the area because it benefits all local COG members and takes a little of the load off of the AAD too.

Yes, I'm buying. How'd you know.  :rotflmao:
I'll check in with Roger or Ben.
And thanks for not extending the battery thread I unleashed. You know what they say, opinions are like a*******, everyone's got one. Not that I'm ungrateful. NOT AT ALL. Lots of good info to take into account when buying. I learn something all the time from youz guyz.  :great:

OMG!!!!  Some one seems to actually be interested in riding in NYC!!!! :singing:

I was actually looking to throw together a northern NJ/Catskills ride in August.  I'm more of a Saturday guy but hey we'll see how it goes.  We haven't been up thru Hawk's Nest in a while. :great:

I'm looking at my schedule closely and considering  checking out the AMA Pro Motorcross series in Unadilla, NY on the weekend of 9-Aug. The track is located 25-miles west of Cooperstown. Would most likely head over there Friday (take a vacation day  :great:), camp out Fri, watch the motos (both 250 and 450 cc classes) on Sat and mosey back home.

I'm traveling out of the country next week and won't have my schedule firmed up until the end of July. If it's a "go", I'll post something.

Mitch- The Unadilla races sound like a fine idea. I've been there several times and really enjoyed it. I'm heading to CO with my wife for 2 or 3 weeks, but hope to be back by then. I'll keep an eye on posts.

I have only heard of this Terry from NYC in whispers. But I think Gigantor has it right. Besides, I'm looking for a reason to cancel my dentist appt. I have tomorrow morning. And yes, you gotta ride even if (especially if) you live in NYC!

How's about Sat Aug 2?  If the weather craps out we can try Sunday the 3rd?  I'll throw together a route up thru the Catskills and back to Port Jervis for some lunch?  I did one once before and it wasn't a bad ride.  Have the perfect photo stop on Hawk's Nest to boot! ;)

Now if I can successfully put it on the calendar that would be sweet! :-[

My Mrs. is working Friday nights so I'm thinking of taking a Friday night ride from Nassau to Callicoon and back.  I bought some vacant land up there and I'd like to see what the area looks like at night.  (I have an astronomy habit, sometimes).  The property is bear-friendly, not bike-friendly so it would be a ride by or a stop near it at most.
If/when I go it will be kickstand up at 8 PM
Throgs Neck Bridge, Tappan Zee Bridge, Rte 17.
I-84 west to Port Jervis, a little Rte 6 to SR-97 north along the river to Callicoon.
Depending how sore I get I might wing it on the PA  side to Dingman's Ferry Bridge but there doesn't seem to be an easy route there.

An alternative would be to stay on 17 to Monticello and take the 17B route to Callicoon.  This is the GPS selected route, supposed to take 2-1/2 hours.  Then the route home could be along 97 and through New Jersey.  An advantage to that is the gas stations are likely to be open along this part of 17, off the main drag at night I've had some gas panic moments especially in Pennsylvania.

Anyway, 5+ hours riding and 3 stops minimum would find me home between 3 and 5 AM.

BTW, NY 52 goes by Bethel Woods, the original Woodstock place where they now have some kind of 60's music museum.  Might be a destination for a daytime group of riders.  It's bethelwoodscenter.org but I've seen hints of traffic nightmares at times (multiple trooper cars preparing to direct traffic on friday).  When I see that I go home a different way.

Make that short!!!  Just checked and it's not coming up on the non member calendar so I'm dropping a new thread for it right now with the general info. :truce:
