Shaping up to be an excellent w/e for a ride. Want to try out the new riding pants I bought on ebay so anyone from the tri-state area thinking of a ride post it up...

I'd be happy to show you my favorite ride around the Ashoken Reservoir- Exit 19 off I-87, Catskills. We can do lunch in Woodstock, do you ride with a passenger/wife? All my family grew up in Brooklyn, I lived there until I was 7, then moved to Staten Island (1977)....err, like much of Brooklyn, lol

I'm on-call this weekend, so I have to remain within an hour of the hospital....

Let me know your plans.  I have to work this weekend, but it is the midnight shifts, so I might be able to make a ride, if I plan my sleeping carefully.  I'm just up at Exit 21.

Rick,
That sounds like a good idea. Any preference on which day...makes no difference to me. It'll be nice to get the bike (and me) outta the city. I don't mind it too much and I'm used to it but Connie can be a bit of a bear around town.
Be good to meet you Outback Jon   :motonoises:

How does Sunday sound? I have a few errands to run on Sat..what time works for everyone? Ari, maybe Noon/12:30pm at exit 18? We can make a clockwise run around the Ashokan or split north between the lower/upper to meet Jon
Jon- if you want to catch a few hours sleep, you can catch up with us in Woodstock- easier for you, as you'll be heading into town from rt 212, exit 20....maybe at 2-ish, then we can get another loop around the reservoir coming from the west and Mt Tremper!
Lunch in Woodstock around 1:45/2pm? Whenever tho, no place to be anytime soon, lol

Anyone else want to come along for a great ride?

Lol, well then, no reason to travel the extra 15 miles south, exit 19 -12:30pm work?

I'd like to hit Peekamoose Rd too, ever go down that road?

As often as possible.  :motonoises:  Frost Valley Road, too.

Meeting up at 18 might work well, though.  We could go over the 'Gunks using 44/55, then out to the Rondout Reservoir and up Peekamoose to the Ashokan.  Woodstock for lunch.

Or Mohonk Road over the Gunks, with a similar outcome.

I'm glad I stumbled upon this post, I'd love to go riding this Sunday so count me in.  See you guys there.  BTW you might want to put rides like this on the calendar of events because it's looking pretty weak as far as NE rides go.

Will be good to see you.  You're right about the calendar looking weak.  There's a lack of Meet&Greets.  Guess we'll have to remedy that.

So, NYbiomed, let's lock down a meeting location and time, then contact someone to add it to the calendar.  I think "S Smith", our Northeast AD would be able to get the event on the calendar for us.

Jon- GREAT to head over the Gunks! Definitely a photo opportunity at the overlook, just past the 180deg switchback!

Looking like it's certainly gonna be some great riding Gents! Just after taking exit 18/toll, from I-87, there will be a football sized field of blacktop to your immediate left- just after this is a Park-n-Ride, but the blacktop area is ideal, quite visible and fun to practice figure 8's while waiting. So I'm guessing Noon works for everyone, gives Ari and others some time to sleep in and still make the nearly 2-hr ride to Exit 18.

Will be fun meeting all, these areas me and Jon speak of can get real twisty and are a blast to riders of all skill levels! Outside the great Northern Adirondacks/Green/White mountains you'll be hard pressed to find better riding!

This sounds like an excellent ride!
I'd like to participate, but I'll be roaming through the Greens and the Whites on the way to/from Maine to open the summer camp.  Have a great time and maybe I can make the next one. I usually get  over to the Cats' region at least a couple times a season. Have fun.

If anyone needs to fuel up, there's a gas station right there, at the end of the exit, too.

NYbiomed - You were suggesting lunch in Woodstock.  Any particular place in mind?

Brio's Restaurant in Phoenicia is a particular favorite of mine when I'm in that general area.  But if you've got a spot in Woodstock, I'm open to try something new.

The Bear Cafe looked interesting, until I saw the prices.   :-\

I've updated the map to reflect Phoenicia for lunch.  Now to work out a post-lunch ride...

Uh oh. So I just noticed that my left fork seal is weeping a little bit of oil. Obviously I'll need to replace the seal but won't have the time before Sunday.  How concerned should I be about making the ride on Sunday??   >:(

Minor weeping presents very little immediate concern, especially if you just noticed it for the first time and it had not been there 5-6 months before, can you top it off with an ounce or 2? I think we would all be surprised how many riders go years with minor seal weeping...
