1983 GPz 550 (a different one) now in stable
« on: June 04, 2014, 04:42:28 pm »
Drove to the SF Bay Area last night and picked up my new to me GPz 550.  The last one that I had lined up fell through, but serendipity rules!  This one is even better and local.  Need to rebuild the carbs and put some fresh tires on it, and it's ready to ride.  I cannot wait!

After getting accustomed to the C14, this thing feels like a min-bike when I sit on it.  Flood of emotions come rolling back sitting on the bike.  The size and the feel just take me back in time.  Just feels like, "Yea, this is what riding was all about".

Funny how that brings back memories!  I loved my 82,  but someone else loved it more.....but they did find it under a guardrail!  Payback!!!!   I think the only difference in the 82 to 83 was the black on the badge???  Congrats!  Oh,  funny how it has a nice LCD gas gauge.  By 94 Vmax could have used one of those!  LOL

Very nice, makes me want to try and fix my 82 Vision up (BUT it may need another motor and I don't think i want to go that far!).

Man, that looks about as close to showroom as you can get for a 30+ year old bike! PO sure did take good care of it.

Congratulations!
