800 VFR firesale?
« on: April 16, 2011, 11:03:49 pm »
In the ten years since I bought her new, my Y2K Connie has served me superbly. In that time, I've lost 40 lbs. & I swear, she has gained a bout 100. In thinking about a new bike, it strikes me that all the new ST bikes have gone in the bigger, heavier, longer, stronger direction. (C-14, ST 1300, BMW rt, new 1200 VFR). The old VFR 800 has always been a favorite of mine & there was a big sale of 2007 models back 2 years ago that I missed.  ($8500) The 800 VFR or BNMW 800 ST look like just what I'd like, but being Connie-frugal, I'm hoping for a fire sale. Anyone hear of any plans for a fire sale on leftover 2009 or 2010 VFRs  now that the 1200 beluga is a reality? I know that Honda has plenty of leftovers.

Some who owned both mentioned that the VFR did not have enough wind/wx proection for long rides and will ALWAYS take the Conk on the long ones.
Those of smaller stature might argue that.

Actually the original was the 1983 V45 Interceptor. I had one myself way back then! But that 86 looks sweet!

I'm 6'1" and my 1999 VFR was plenty comfortable once I put on a Givi screen.  That was without a doubt my favorite bike.  Was effortless to ride in the twisties.  Unfortunately a left turner at Americade back in 2001 totalled it.  Thanks to gear and some last minute manuevers I made it through with some bruises.  Man I miss that bike! :'(
