I've looked at those on occasion. Is it faster than an H2R? Any reliability issues?

From what I've heard about the H2R, they require a lot of rebuilding.
Not sure if a turbo'd ZX would do any better though?

You may know. I know they make the H2R for racing.
But, Is there even a class on the track for a H2R or a turbo'd bike?

Rules for racing is based upon class and the class is based upon engine size and whether or not the bike is modified. If more than 500 of the bike has been produced then it's considered mass-produced and it's acceptable for racing in the categories I qualify for. Truth be told I wouldn't want the bike for the track since winning a race is not based on horsepower in any way whatsoever. I'm just bored with my ZX14 on the street it doesn't feel like enough. Problem is I can't crank on my GSXR 1000 because it just wheelies all the damn time on the street. Streets are so bumpy and it just launches into the air with the slightest Road imperfection. This is why I'm torn as to what to do. It seems like I need the longer wheelbase for the street. I've already stiffened up the compression damping in the rear so it doesn't squat under hard acceleration quite as much on the street. I might try softening up the compression damping in the front to see if they keeps the front end down. What are you guys doing this problem?

Doug,
You're so far beyond my experience with power that I don;t have nay experience, but i can say some things from a physics viewpoint...
H2 is about the same height as your ZX14, so it would wheelie easier, like your Gixxer, maybe more since it may be lighter.
Have you thought about putting a turbo and lowering your ZX14 a little?  that would give you more acceleration, and the lowering would reduce the tendency to wheelie?  ( I know, loss of ground clearance)
wondering why the suggestion for a turbo 'Busa?   since the ZX14 starts with higher performance, won't you end up even higher with a ZX14 than with a Busa?

Flashed the ZX14? I know you have the stock pipes. Ya could open her up a little. Or a LOT (turbo, ext swingarm a smidge)

Kawi's race platform is the ZX-10R - the H2 is a heavier, more stable and 'boredom curing' powerhouse for the street. The chassis is gorgeous and strong. Doug - if you can swing it - and it fits - GeT OnE  :motonoises:

Oh, and remember that time I let you ride my bike?! Just sayin'  :beerchug:

There are tons of turbo busas out there running around.  Probably the toughest engine out there for it out of the box.  The big Zed can make lots of powah, but isn't as forgiving as the busa for a few reasons.  But either would be a mighty stout ride with SOME kind of breakage factor.  The large number of successfully turbo-ed Busas means a huge InfoBase to draw from and a number of successful blueprints to follow.  The ZX14R a much smaller InfoBase and fewer "models" to follow after.

The H2R just has to be phenomenal.  But it too is bound to break sometimes.  That comes with the HP territory and I'm sure Doug is up for that if it gives him what he's looking for in excitement.  It's a "No pain, no gain" kinda thing.

And Fais is dead on... it's gorgeous.

Yeah my ZX14 got flashed by Schnitz Racing. They did a great job. the Flies open up early and there's no longer decel cut off. The speed limiter is gone too. They only charge 75 bucks and I'm glad I did it but it doesn't make a big difference in the big picture. I'm looking for real horsepower here. Any time I looked for a turbo Busa in the past they were either way overpriced or torn up. any ideas where I should look? How's the reliability? Anytime you guys wanna try my 14 you're welcome to it. Don't take it for just a short ride though. Giving you 30 seconds to get used to it before opening the throttle is unsafe. Ride it for a half a day. It is addictive and that's the problem I have now. More begets more! >:D

Doug,
See if you can get in touch with Tony Finley.  He was instrumental in my making my turbo EFI system get off the ground.  He pioneered the Piggyback ECU for turbo busas and developed some awesome and beautifully made stuff back in 2009 and 2010.  My suggestion is to have him build you a system or even a bike so that you aren't buying someone else's wore out or poorly built junk.  I did a quick search and believe this is him.  I haven't had any conversation with him in at least 5 years, but he had a handle on this when others were saying it couldn't be done.

At least then what he did was retain the stock ECU to run the bike off boost so the ignition and everything were bulletproof, and then he piggybacked a Microsquirt on top of it to fire additional injectors when the boost came in.  I know the stock ECU has to be flashed to make corrections for timing and to compensate for cam and/or compression changes, but his stuff was flying and not falling apart or blowing up every day.  He then started building his own PnP Standalones and piggybacks based of the Microsquirt card.

This is the last website address I had for him before we lost touch.  http://interfacepnp.webs.com/
I hope he's doing OK.  I sent him my first Megasquirt 1 when I couldn't make anything work and was frustrated to the point of giving up.  He found a problem in my assembly, corrected it, and then my stuff worked a treat.  But by then I had already switched up to a Microsquirt v2  and he helped me get a baseline to get it started the first time.  Awesome guy IMHO.

But if anyone could steer you into the performance you want and keep you in budget and not be a... mmmmm... arrogant so and so, he's your guy.  But the site looks kinda abandoned.

Justa thought. I suspect the H2R, ZX-10R, others come with wheelie controls.

If they're prone to breaking, will Ma Kaw offer, and/or honor any warranty onthe H2R?

Sorry, I know practicality is way off the mark for a bike like this, but I'll bet good money
that fixing a broke one will hurt the back pocket as much as buying one...  Ooch.

Why not get a jet bike? Probably cheaper.

My local shop took in a used one, not sure what they're asking for it but they are a great shop IMO and they ship bikes out to customers often.

They don't have it listed on their site it looks like but if you're interested let me know and I can connect you to the right folks.

This is one reason I got into dirt bikes and quads- No cops for one reason- and no traffic.
My Ktm530 is darn right fast and pulls very hard  and my CanAm 1000 Renegade ( with many power add ons)  is a friggin crazy beast ..
Then I get on my C14 and crack the throttle wide open and go 'huh?'  That's it??
It is all relative.
Normally aspirated engines have perpetual turbo lag
2000 Red C10 1052 kit
2008  C14 Silver Dammit Full AreaP- Flies are put back in SISF_Flash
2011  KLR650   688 piston ported and polished
2011  KTM 530    This thing is FUN!!

There is a turbo ZX10R for sale on one of the local forums I belong too.

Although I'm sure it has a tendency to wheelie!!!

Why not go down to a ZX10R? They push close to 200 ponies and weigh a lot less than a Busa turbo or not and the ZX14. Lots of mods available and it can actually corner. >:D

Have you considered something like these?
http://www.bikebandit.com/aftermarket-parts/suspension/swingarms/roaring-toyz-engraved-anodized-swingarm-extensions?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIw7zwztf31AIVmI2zCh17IAEHEAQYAiABEgL6efD_BwE

I've seen a bike parked at my job that had the extended tail.
I never inspected it up close but the BB kit looks affordable for DIY.

Jay Leno is about the only person with no racing cred to get an H2R. Mere mortals can't get one. No matter how much money they have.
