What have I done?!?!  :-[

Apparently you acquired a bad-a** bike. I rode one (many moons ago) and it was the first bike I exceeded 150 on. Did it effortlessly.

Wouldn't say you put your license in any more jeopardy but you might have raised your insurance rates. Very nice, are you acquiring a stable?

What year is it? I think the earlier ones were carbed and later ones were fuel injected right?

I stumbled on it looking for a Yamaha...I didn't know the earlier years were carbureted ('98 CBR1100XX carby here), and yes it is effortlessly fast. Not terrifying enough, it's planted steady at triple digit speeds.  :-X

It had a really sloppy cam chain noise but a little research yielded that it's common and an easy fix with a manual tensioner. It's the tensioner that goes bad, not the cam chain.
So that drove down the price and was a $30 fix.
Classic Honda fit and finish, it comes apart and goes back together well.
Seat hurts my big butt, I've re-done enough seats that this one won't be bad. I already have everything at hand to make it better on my bountiful booty.

The linked brakes feel like wood, and with 20 year old lines, that's the only real outlay of cash I need to make here. It's so smooth, and has such good street manners...it could tour very well. I'm getting 40 mpg  haulling a$$ on the interstate and the chain is acceptable because there's a center stand.

So here's this summer's hot weather bike while my Connie gets suspension and bearings and tires all around, and maybe a re-paint. It's not toothpaste-blue enough. Needs glitter.  :nananana:

You're right Jay... without looking it up, I'm pretty sure the 1998/99 models had carbs and 2000+ were FI.

Nice bike! :great:

Great bike, I had one for many years. 1997 and 1998 were carbed, 1999 to 2003 are FI. They quit selling them new in 2003 in the states and in 2007 everywhere else. I put VFR bars on my 2000 model and lowered the footpegs. I toured all over the place in it using a Ventura rack.

which VFR bars fit it? If I could get my upper body up just a bit more, I'd be completely comfortable doing head checks. Right now that's difficult, getting my head around when my shoulders are at that angle.
What's a Ventura rack?

Well I ain't getting rid of my C10! Not after all we've been through, and not with how good that bike fits me. It still makes me smile every time we leave the driveway and the rotors never get a chance to rust. That's saying a lot.

Nice find Jen, I likely. Maybe a radar detector could be mounted on it, ha ha. Friend of mine had one back in the day when it was the fastest production bike.
