Do People Think Like Me???
« on: June 29, 2017, 12:54:16 am »
Hi,
I admittedly run around on the Internet looking at different bikes....

One I've always had a soft spot for is the 1996 Honda CB 1000!

Considered a "Big Bike" I guess, even though it barely has a 100 horses!

Being tall, big is good, but the problem I face is....

I own a nice Kawi C14 and I'm seriously afraid (for me)...

That everything else (other bikes, I can actually afford!) will pale in comparison!

Wondering if anyone else thinks this way! ;D

Absolutely, while I had fun and like the sound of the VFR I rode yesterday, I kept thinking "I'd rather be on my Connie, it sounds better and it's faster."

I kinda think like you SG1 I like looking, not willing to give up the Connie. But if the right deal came along- Connie would have a stable mate. Riding different bikes improves your skills and doesn't lock you into one riding behavior. Being 6'8" however does limit your choices to different bikes as would being 5' nothing. Have you gone looking for test rides? Or are you afraid the papers on a new bike would be signed?

Hi,
Diz, at my size, you don't even need a test ride!

All you have to do is sit on a bike (tire kick) and you know pretty quick what the story is!

There are a couple of bikes that interest me, and most are made by BMW!

Some would (and have!) said, that is a downside! ;D

No matter what I look at, for different reasons....

I keep thinking I made the right choice with my C14!!! :great: >:D >:D >:D

Greg,
You should tire kick a KTM 1290SA. That is one bike that is definitely big and fast enough for you. I ride Dave A's once in a while, it is a fantastic bike. Not as smooth as a C14 or as good of weather protection but the power is O SO NICE!     :motonoises: :motonoises: :motonoises:

I love pizza, but I wouldn't want to eat it every day...

I love taco's, but I wouldn't want to eat them every day...

The combo's (sport/touring), although a great combo, I wouldn't say that taco pizza is my favorite pizza nor my favorite taco's, but it sure is tasty and I do like to eat it every now and then, but not every day.  ;D

Change and variety is good IMO, otherwise I get bored...  :??:  :truce:

Hi,
Looks like the KTM 1290 SA and the BMW S1000XS is pretty much alike!

I sat on the BMW and thought the German's had measured me before making the bike!

Admittedly more room than the C14 and I guess a little more power, but....

Not a real "sports bike"!

I'm sure at some period I will probably buy a bike made by the "Master Race"!

That KTM DOES look, very Teutonic! ;D

ZG, if I was your size I think I would have the Garage full of old 80's/90's sportbikes! :o

I was looking at the 96 Honda CB 1000 as a project bike.

Thought it would be fun to bore it out with a Vance and Hines rebuild kit.... (more ponies!)

Upgrade the suspension .....

And have a jammin, run to the Beach, on a Sunday afternoon bike!!! >:D >:D >:D

Did you have to buy the Suzukis as a pair ZG?

You have been lusting after those fast Beemers SG1, probably end up with one but will you be able to tell Mama you spent over $20000 on a motorcycle? Me? I drank the Kool-Aid 6 times Slow learner.   :-[  And ZG owned a KTM 1290 for a short while. Was hoping he would chime in on his ownership experience

No, you're not alone...   No C-14, but my C-10 is such a nice compromise of features and comfort.
I feel if I move on to another bike I'll be losing SOMETHING, even if I gain 6 other things....   :??:

Performance -- Rear: C14 Shock - Front: Sonic 1.1 w/emulators - SISF Jet Mod & Ex Cam Sprocket - Tokico front brakes
Comfort -- Russell Day Long - Madstad - Cruise Control

Hi,
      Ha! Ha! LOL!!! :beerchug:

ZG, oh man, those Suzuki's are nice bikes, and having owned one with probably the same I4 engine.

Think they are as good as the Kawi at being bullet proof!

I guess I called that one! ;D

McFly,  you nailed it as to why so many people here keep those C-10 running!

There has to be a reason(s)!!! :great:
