First ride of he season
« on: March 21, 2019, 03:04:25 am »
Yesterday it was very nice here in the PMW. A friend and also COG member brought his C10, a Barny Bike to my house. The C10 was given to him and it's a very nice C10.  Carbs were sent off to Steve's Spa so it runs really well too. I hopped on the 900 and we went to Omak for lunch. We went to a BBQ place that also has killer burgers. After lunch we headed back to my house for a bout a 70 mile round trip. Over all a good day. Had to be careful in some places with gravel on the road.

My 1st ride of the year was 1/1/19. Then winter set in and ice covered my access road for 2 months. Was left to just start the engines to keep the batteries full. Bikes sat on center stands. Had a good thaw and 2 days ago got out and rode at 40*. Nearly got stuck as I had to turn the bike around from getting out of the garage and used the lawn. A little too soft to ride on; left a trench 4 inches deep, 12 feet long as the back wheel spun to get the bike out. But enough about my winter weight. The ride felt so good! Went back the next day with the GF and took another spin through my rural county. Spring is finally coming!

I've been out several of the last few days here in NE Kansas, as well as today. We got some good rain last week so most of the winter sludge and grime is off the roads.

My first ride of the season was January 1, 2019.  It was a little cool here in the Jacksonville area but it was good overall.

Irene, your a little cool in Jax would be great riding weather here.  We don't have to deal with the humidity. But have been out a couple of times since the first ride. If the C14 was up and running, I would have gone out on a cold clear day too. I try to ride at least one day a month. The C14 should be back together in the next couple of days. The 900 is nakid and just not fun in the cold.

Tim,

Jorge and I moved to Jacksonville 4 years ago from Central Indiana.  I am used to riding in the cold back in Indiana.  It's funny the perspectives that people having on temperature depending on where they're from.

Got the old BMW out to ride to the BMV to get plates for the C-10! ;D 65 and sunny here in Cleveland. It was just a 20 mile 2-lane jaunt but it was nice after almost 6 months of no riding.
