Wow., that means I have had mine a year. Between Jami and I, we have put almost 400 miles on it. I guess I don't like it as much as my C14, I just put 4,400 miles on it in one trip :motonoises:

Oh well, it looks damn good in the garage. I think I'll keep it.

She does look good though...  :great:

I did a little over 5k, which aint bad for me, no big trips and multiple bikes to play with. Rode her year round and enjoyed all of it, no issues, Honda reliability.  :great:

I love this time of year, Fall is my favorite season in the PNW, good food, football, weather...  :great:

Temps are starting to drop and the rain showers are moving back in, time to put on the wind protection,  Puig Tour windscreen n Powerbronze hand wind protectors.

Thats a very nice VFR ZG.  Totally get wanting a smaller, lighter bike.  I considered pulling the plug on one of those when they came out, but also felt it was overpriced. Nice bikes regardless.  Had a 96 I bought new and still have 2 Honda V4-s in the shop.  I'd love to get another 94-99,

What is that gadget next to your GPS?

Thanks man, ya I think new MSRP was in the mid teens for the Deluxe model, crazy, low mile ones can be had for around $7k now. Next to the Zumo is TPX 2.0 radar/laser detector.

Not trying to take anything away from the VFR.  They are incredible bikes, and I fell in love with the two versions a fellow commuter had who parked next to me at work for years.

Another one that is largely forgotten is the BMW F800GT.  Like the VFR, it was (is) expensive if you buy new.  However, you can buy them used for a lot less.  If you're looking for a sport-touring bike that is very light (@470 lbs wet), this should be on your short list.  Belt drive.  All day comfortable.   Eats away miles on the freeway, and is easy to flick through the corners.  Top speed is supposedly 140 mph, yet it can get me over 60 mpg at times.

If anyone is interested, I'd be glad to start a thread on the bike.

Really nice ride ZG! Have a question about the weight of 800. I remember that the VFR1200F was nearly as heavy as the Connie. Is the 800 significantly less?

Thx DZ  :beerchug:

The VFR800F is under 500 lbs (498?), the VFR1200F is under 600 lbs (591?), I think the C14 is just under 700 lbs (688?).

I loved my '99 VFR800i. With a Holeshot slip-on, the exhaust note was pure sex accompanied by a chorus of angels (cam-gear whine). I only got rid of it because of the electrical gremlins. Apparently that generations suffered from insufficient wiring in the charging system; I was regularly frying wires and baking the plastic connectors. I had to replace the charging system wiring harness annually in order to keep it running without too much worry. In the end, I moved on to a new/leftover Versys 650 and never looked back. My red '99 was probably the best-looking bike I ever owned, until I got my C14.

I went and bought the VFR800 Deluxe our local shop picked up for Jay. He couldn't wait for them though so he drove four hours to get his.

This one only has 1,500 miles on it. :great:

Happy Viffer Anniversary brutha!  :beerchug:

I already found exhaust system, slip-on, windshield, and Power Commander for it..

Glad to help.
    Ride safe, Ted

PS: We're leaving in Aug for an Alaskan cruise. Until then my retirement resources are a bit stretched..
After I return, I'll be looking again.. Have been considering a 650 Versys, but the VFR seems promising.
Not to throw gas on the fire, but Zlock Racing makes a very affordable 744 big bore kit to boost ye old 650 Versys/SV motor to the 100hp mark. A friend of mine has 50k on his, so it seems reliable as well. What a sleeper that thing is. Options.
Oops my bad, i meant weeStrom, not versys, did a quick 25 trail miles on my dirt bike after work, brain is dead.

Had a 1991 VFR for a long time. Great bike. Rode it cross country SF-NYC. Blue roads all the way.  4900 miles in 10 days. Soft bags worked fine.  Have a 2010 VFR 1200 now. Love it too. What a motor!  Bought my second C14 for longer trips with my wife. Really it’s her bike, I just drive it. Years ago she rode on the back of my Hawk GT (still have it) from NJ to Lake George. Sigh, those days are gone.

That 800 looks beautiful!  It’s the right color too.  Congrats & Enjoy!
