Yes sir. Surgery #13 here since '10 is this Sat. The only problem with getting my teeth in order is that I might put a bunch of weight back on when I regain the ability to chew without pain.

$30k in the States was $7k here for the same dental work. The roads and views here are absolutely incredible. Everything is cheap. The currency is the US Dollar, eternal spring weather, fresh and amazing food is everywhere. Not to mention the people. Totally worth it.

100% sales tax on bikes over 125cc here - you sure you want one for double!? lol
Yes, a Concours here is $32k.

When I said everything is cheap here that is for items under $399. Everything else has a 100% luxury tax to benefit the poor areas = excellent roads/infrastsucture everywhere:-)

Not sure if Ecuador qualifies as South America...maybe more like Central America. I'm From Argentina, btw! no more south than that lol!
In any case Fais, enjoy the trip man! For next time, consider Buenos Aires as well for Dental or Surgery work...amazing Doctors / clinics over there if you have the $$ ;)

I'm thinking about taking a looooong trip (Canada to Usuahia) sometime in the future  :motonoises:

Fais, where in Ecuador are you?  JD, I'm guessing that geography wasn't a topic you studied much in school?

Currently in Quito until I find out if we can complete the next round of work in one, two or three days.

I have orders to fill here so we will make the rounds of the entire country purchasing goods and treating it like a vacation as well. Mindo, Banos, Otovalo, Salinas, Cuenca and the Guacamayo Lodge in the Amazon will hopefully all get a visit. Sat will tell all.

If Ecuador were in Central America I would have definitely ridden here all these years LOL

JD - are you from Argentina, Indiana?  :D just kidding around - but you sorta asked for it  :beerchug:

JR - I bought some stretchy jeans today - you know I'm gonna gain weight !

Don - those are the teeth that are just out of my price range .... :-/ but I'll get close  :)

Well that first pic was of one of a fleet of constructuon bikes I have never seen here before. Thought maybe someone would find that of interest. They're everywhere now.  I used to dream of making similar bikes for emergency responders, electricians, handymen and etc when I lived in LA. Lots of time in traffic in a truck going to do a job we could have done on a bike. Often needing just a tape measure, lap top and ladder to make estimates. I was hourly, so, if my boss liked the idea it would have hurt me and helped him. Paid to sit in traffic isn't so bad I guess.

Craft beer stop at a moto museum cafe in Quito:

No sir. The way I pack a KLR for travel here leaves no room for a medium-maintenance pillion. Renting a GS1200 would be cost prohibitive. And, I have some purchasing to do so we rented a car with a trunk. Harder to find than a wagon or suv but a lockable trunk is mandatory for me. Hopefully we find all we need and fill it up a few times.

7 hours, 2 ceramic crowns and a couple of root canals later my orthodontist looked at me and said 'you will have no more pain'! Finally! My wisdom teeth impacted and cracked my molars when I was a teenager. At 22 I had them removed but the damage was done. It took me another 10 years to pay off loans my own parents took out in my name when I was 14. At 32 I sold a business, bought a Connie, traveled and researched my dental options. Refusing to pay into the insurance scam dental plans stateside I started coming to Ecuador to repair my teeth. $30k estimates in the states = $7k here. Bone implants, titanium rod implants, porcelain and ceramic implants and crowns. Constant pain for 25 years is now behind me. They managed to complete the last three sessions in one day yesterday, no pain, no pain pills, no drooling - and I am eating every crunchy thing I see! I am missing 3 molars still - but the cake is done - can add cherries later:-) Ended up lovong it here so much I acquired an export license to the States and opened a motorcycle tour company in Peru. My shops in TN run better without me:-/ Last Jan - 2016 - I gave my moto tour company to a church - it was amazing fun but redundancy killed me - and I don't think Ewa was cool with my sand-floor bamboo house on the beach lol

Dave - here's the new 250 - $2700 out the door with tag, title, helmet and a tank of gas  :great: The 400 is eluding me - but I'll keep looking :motonoises:

Here are some pics just 'cuz  :great:

Thanks Diz  :great: I'll be having cereal again this morning! It's a whole new world.

Not staying - but looking to find a new location for the moto tours and a restaurant somewhere Ewa would also like to live half the year. We still haven't lived in the same state yet so I believe we will finish 2017 in Murrica before makng any major decisions. TN does not suck so it's all good.

Nothing new here - been importing from here since 2012 to offset travel expenses :great: It's an easy trip, same time zone, eternal spring weather, no currency exchange, awesome people and products.

Today we will go to 16,500ft and will hike past the highest church at 15,600ft. It's training for our next week of hiking up volcanoes and repelling down waterfalls  ;D

16k feet is dangerous, if you've been before you know. If not listen to guide.

At 30 I was in great shape. SCUBA, handball, racquetball, lifting. Went to top of Mona Kea on big island in Hawaii. Almost fell down a couple times. We even stopped 3/4 of the way up to acclimate.

But it was worth it. Have fun!
