Have you tried tunein radio through your phone?

Not paying for that, all my radios are Sirius Select only. The HD Infotainment unit has the weather and traffic HD package also.

Tunein is free. After you buy the app.
Great for old time radio serials, talk radio, listening to the local stations when you are in a new town, millions of podcasts, are all on the app for I think $2.99 one time fee. There is an upgrade for premium service. Another great feature is when you get off the bike the app will pause until you start again and you will have the option to pick up where you left off or fast forward. Uses very little data also. AM radio has so much distortion these days its almost impossible to listen to. You can even listen to audio books.

Oh, ok didn't know about it. Thanks.

I'm pretty happy with XM. Plus it pipes in over wire to my helmets, and sounds awesome.

Yep!

The HD subscription with Sirius is a bit different than the 665 Zumo I had. It does weather better, and traffic a lot better. I had to get into setup and tone it down actually. LOL

Another interesting behavior is when I turn the bike off at a gas station, and I'm within about 50 miles of a destination, it often takes me off the route onto county roads. So I have had some interesting scenery at times I had not planned on seeing. I guess Navigator has a bit of mischievousness built in.

Hey JR,

If you still plan on doing Alaska you'd best think about a plan B for tunage. The guy I road up there with had XM on his wing and didn't work so well that far north. He was not a happy camper.

Just another heads up from someone who as BTDT.

A cell phone app such as Tunein will be no good either since Much of the ride to, In & from Alaska will have no cell service. A simple MP3 player or MP3's stored in your phone will work  :beerchug:

^Yup!

That's how I did it. I had the CD changer in the trunk on my wing & I had it loaded up with custom burned CDs loaded as full as I could get them with MP3s. I could go days before having to hear the same song twice! My buddy, OTOH, had nothing but silence. So he'd yak at me over the CB to stay entertained!    :truce:

Brake controller. Rocks. Awesome. Thankful!

Glad I picked the brake controller I did, it is very effective and doesn't need adjustment. Automatic is good!

Now it is like just stopping the trike. I hardly feel the wagon except as I begin to depress the foot brake. Then the controller phases in and the trailer "vanishes" almost completely.

No more feeling trailer push at all. The rest of the time the controller stays out of the way.

True. Idler shaft/3rd gear grenaded thanks to a certain shop not torquing the gearbox bolts properly. $1,900 gone in a flash. No big deal, really.

From now on I'm checking said bolts once a week and gearbox oil level too.

Live and learn.

Must be getting trailer loading right, as my gas mileage has improved.

Originally I went from about 200 miles a tank to 160-ish. Now I'm at 180-ish. If I could get just a little better aerodynamics I might get closer still.

Pretty sure once I can commission a custom trailer from Fais and Robert, I'm switching to a low slung high performance cargo trailer. Will use no-axle drop torsion axles, a left and right piece. Aluminum space frame, aluminum sheet covering, probably a drop ramp in back, and add a Kodiak Canvas Apex VX tent to my kit. Its pretty heavy, so I'll store it in a golf bag cart, and just wheel it to where I want to set it up.  Thank goodness it sets up extremely easily, and rolls up easy too. They make the best base camp tents on the market, proven in driving snow storms and high wind rain storms to be better than anything tested against them.

I'd also like the top to lift on gas pistons, and lock. There will be a rack on top, but mostly just for the tent cot and fast camp dry bag, do it doesn't have to be a tall rack.

The bins, stove, other dry bags will fit inside, along with the propane bottle and sundry stuff.

Hidden inside this nice waterproof box is the brake controller.

I put a Gore Vent on the top to let the box breath.
