There is no such thing as too much ammo, unless you are on fire or trying to swim.

If you haven't pulled the trigger yet on a tent check out the Alps Mountaineering Extreme 3. I've been quite impressed by this tent. I did have to replace the fly after about six years as the UV rays attacked the windows in it. $34.

Steve in sunny Florida also has the same tent. Ask him how it survived the monsoons/tornado at RWTW a few years ago.

Backcountry.com has it for $149.

BTW, don't get their footprint, use poly or a cheap tarp.

On sleeping bags, I'll second the blanket and bag idea. Lots of flexibility for different temps.

SteveJ knows his stuff. He's a road warrior also.
If you are off the ground, and you should be, I'd be tempted to get the DualTemp bag from Eureka. Covers a lot of temperature variations. 20/40 degree swing covers a lot of riding conditions. And remember, the bike won't complain about weight at all. Take/make yourself comfortable on the road. It's all about sleep.

Luckily that was ManOfBlues wife's fault weather wise.
I had nothing to do with it.
That year.
Last year though.... :P

Haven't made a purchase yet...need to do that before the BullFrog.  Took a look at the Alps extreme 3...I like it...interesting design.
You might have changed my mind SteveJ, thanks.  It's listed at $299 on the Alps site, but you can get it for $149?  Whats up with that??? Haven't seen that kind of price break on a tent from 'OEM' to camping outlets.  I was already rethinking the mummy bag, in favor of rectangular and xtra blanket.  Thanks guys.

I picked up my Extreme for $129. Shortly after, the going price was about $180-200. I like the fact that a person can give them a call(very nice lady at customer service) and get replacement parts instead of having to throw the whole thing away.

I'm also bag shopping, sort of. My main bag is from the early '80's. Having had a mummy and rectangular, I'm thinkin' a modified mummy.

From what I understand at the campground each tent site can have 3 or 4 tents. Anyone already have a site that I can pitch my tent on ?. I will pay my portion of the site of course. I was thinking of arriving Saturday & leaving the following sat or sunday. I have a 9x10 dome tent & was hoping to share a site if anyone is interested

Yep, I have the site right next to Al, and my TimeOut won't take but half of it. Welcome to share!

I am hoping to make a reservation in the next week or so but for some reason I keep hearing deliverance music. Before I pull the trigger, does anybody have any available spots to share or willing to share one if I reserve? I am probably looking at Saturday to Saturday or Sunday.  :beerchug:

I'm sitting in the "waiting for vacation approval" group (by myself probably)... but want to put it out
to the universe that I WILL be camping upon approval for vacation.  Never been to a Rally in a hotel, and
I'm not about to start bad habits at the National.  I'm REALLY hoping to see y'all in June!

They're changing our time reporting system next week. (first 3 out of the whole national system, rest to follow in the coming months) Everyone with leave already in gets to redo it...along with the approval process. Just because it's in now and approved now doesn't mean it'll get approved then.
We'll see if I still get my leave. Until I get it approved, there's no telling.
And the campground is where the cool kids hang out.

Talked with Missy this morning when I reserved my spot and she said they had only 4-5 tent spots left and were yet to assign the RV slots. If you are tenting...just saying they're getting full.

Starting to get excited about the rally.

Hey Al, I reserved a campsite a couple months ago, but haven't advertised it for sharing.  Should I cancel my site reservation to free it up for someone else, and take Rod or Phil up on their sharing offer (and obviously pay my share)?

Just not sure of the logistics of this camping.

I think Al is busy traveling for a while.

You could go either way, you shouldn't have any problem holding on to the site and post up here for folks to share.
