Four Seasons Resort. Lake of the Ozarks.

When I Google it, it comes back as the "Lodge of Four Seasons" Golf Resort and Marina. Really? $$$

Guess we'll have to wait for more info.

Like I said....  $$$

Outta my budget. Shame 'cause I was actually thinking of going east of the Rockies. I have old friends in Vienna and Dixon, just down the road from there that I would like to see.

So what hotel price is cheap enough for you ? Take that amount and divide it by 52 as this is a whole year away and I bet you can come. I know I can skip something that saves me $10.00 a week.

I have never been to a national.  Can someone comment on what "typical" hotel rates have been?  What did a room cost in Helen?

I am looking forward to attending a national "someday".  With the rumours of Ohio, I was excited that 2017 would be the year.  Not so sure that Lake of the Ozarks will be a good fit for me at this stage.

I would like to recommend going. This is a great venue and there are many great roads nearby. What I like about this venue is it is ideally suited for getting together and meeting new members and seeing olde friends.

COG is really the people and this is the chance to experience the great fellowship and fun in person.  :campfire:

What is the COG rally room rate compared to the brochure rates?

When I called, they referenced the rally, there is an event number in brochure so the rates posted in the brochure are the room rates for the LOTO National.

They seem high, but this venue is really great and the roads are too so I am in.

I am not associated with the planning and am not a shill for the NC planners, but I think they hit the ball out of the park here.

There's a seven day cancellation policy, so if you are even thinking of going get your reservation in.

fyi: If you decide to reserve online, you will need to enter the code shown in the pamphlet (275581) before the calendar will show you the dates as being available. Well at least that's the way
it worked for me today, later on it might change.

Edit:  Well the above applies to their standard web page as found by Google, however it has been pointed out to me ( Thanks kv5e! ) that we have our own page so probably best to use that: http://www.4seasonsresort.com/concours  go to the middle of that page and click on "click here" spot.  Or I guess for now just click here.   ;D

WANDRNG:  Thanks for that link.

I don't know the mind of the average COG member, but IMHO, a target of $80 to $90 per night for hotel lodging seems to be more in line with what I would like to see for an event like this.  This isn't to say that I wouldn't pay more, but when you factor in the registration fee, costs to get to the rally, the ancillary costs while there (food, drink, off-bike activities, etc.), participation could easily exceed $1000 per person.   This is a significant sum of money, and is not something within the reach of a lot of folks.

Please don't misunderstand, I am not criticizing the hard work that the rally organizers put in (I know it is a lot of work), and the venues seem to have a lot to offer, but I don't think anyone is going to complain about lower lodging expenses.

I am going to try and make the 2017 event . . .

Not a bad price!

A whole 7 days of camping here at Helen was about $240 which isn't too much. Water, electricity, showers that have hot water, a big fire ring just for us, an a/c-ed lounge. Nice campground!

I think all of us would like to see lower costs for lodging and the venue, but a few things to consider here:

1. Venue needs to support 200 rooms at a minimum
2. Venue needs to have rooms for; sit down banquet, registration, hospitality, tech meetings, town hall, ride coordination etc.
3. Have a good location for rides
4. This is peak vacation time, so rates are on "peak season"
5. Venue must be clean and have good reviews (no bedbugs, rude staff, high crime, etc.)
6. Venue MUST BE MOTORCYCLE FRIENDLY, this really is important.

There's more, but it comes down to a critical mass of necessary amenities and the $80 to $90 chains during peak vacation time are just not suitable (with rare exceptions).

That's why COG always has a camping option too for folks who camp to mitigate costs.

That WILL NOT work with my wife, so it is a room for us.

Hope to meet you there at LOTO 17!

The Helendorf was Rally Central but the Super 8 had rooms for $69 (some got it for less) and the Best Western for $89. The Super 8 was about 1/10 of a mile from rally central and the Best Western was 3/10 of a mile. The town is very pedestrian friendly so if you did not stay at rally central, it was less then a 5 minute walk to it. So there were rooms for just about every budget.

Well,
The 2017 rally is clearly out of the realm of affordability for this member.
Book those rooms folks,

Long gone are the days of venues with a modest but nice set of amenities, well suited to socializing, and choices of eating and affordability.

When japanese gardens, 55" big screen tv, parasailing, golfing, renting the facilities additional perks, spa treatment, etc., overcome the reason I personally go to a rally... I have to bow out.

I do apreciate the efforts by all Rally teams, always have, but the trend has gotten a bit too outside the box for me.

Once again we are publishing the dates for the next year National in advance so that members can put it on their calendar early.

THE 2017 NATIONAL RALLY WILL BE HELD JUNE 12 - 16, 2017.

Attend this years National - The Back Yard Rally, June 20 - 24, in Helen, GA to find out next years location.

Maybe edit the original post to include a location.

This years (2016) location was chosen because of the GREAT roads literally in any direction you wanted to go from in Helen. Fantastic riding roads should be the #1 reason to chose a venue. Getting all the items you listed in one location is difficult at best, trust me, we had a team searching the entire south east for 2016 and there was always an issue with each location we found that could host our National. We did find one location but felt the room rates were higher then our membership would pay and they were lower then the 2017 rates and we had a another location but felt the traffic congestion would have a negative impact on the attendees.

I'll keep my opinion to my self in regards to the 2017, we probably will attend but more because my wife's sister lives in KC then anything else as we have been to Lake of the Ozarks several times.

Interesting.
Just went to their site, and got prices for booking a room, starting Sunday, for 5 nights......

$99 a room for this next coming week.

For a nobody, walking in, at online price. :-[

My math may be flawed, but discounted rooms for a group rate, with a year in advance, should be lower, not %25 higher.
