NW Bun Cooler and OTP Donations
« on: May 23, 2017, 01:16:15 am »
I know that Dan and I  are the ones going OTP this year. I also know this would have happened regardless of who was going. I just got back from the Bun Cooler where my buns were precooled in Jackpot NV with snow and temps as low as 24 for some SW members coming in from UT, CO and CA. After Thursday the weather was fantastic (except for that small eruption in Elk City we won't talk about). Today I arrive back in Hendertucky to 100 degrees and am now decompressing in the pool. My how the worm has turned. I suspect that for those willing there shall be much fodder for upcoming Concourier issues as there are some hilarious tales to tell.
Mine begins with the generosity, support, kindness, and care of the NW group. The SW area had planned a breakfast burrito cook off with donations going to OTP. This was before I was selected. I asked Glena to do my shopping for me. She did and donated the supplies to OTP so the SW group just had to show some cooking talent. The SW dudes broke it out (with help from the NW Ladies) and began the cook off late Friday night ( after a 500 mile trip in from Jackpot NV) and on Sat were ready for the hungry hordes. I think it went off pretty good. When it was all said and done over 300 dollars was raised for OTP. But it doesn't stop there. That night at the banquet Charlie Gary ran a 50/50 raffle and the winner donated the winning's back to OTP and several members put items up for auction for OTP. (as of this writing I shall be gathering names for these fine individuals for my Concourier write up). All told over 900 dollars was raised for OTP from the Bun Cooler. My point to all this is I am very truly humbled, proud, and impressed by this club each and every day. Coggers are known to be frugal but giving when needed. So many stories of members going well above and beyond to help a fellow member. They may not volunteer to write an article or host an event  :truce: but man do they step up when the hat is passed. Thank you to each and every one of you that has donated to OTP in the past, present and future. It is a great program. I shall represent COG in the best way possible (Stop looking at me like that!). Look forward to many pictures of Judith's travels throughout Europe  ;) What an AWESOME group of people. Join for the bike, Stay for the PEOPLE!

Sometimes it's best to not know what the ingredients are and just enjoy the flavor, like knowing if you're in the Philippines you should never ask what kind of meat is in the adobo if you have an aversion to dog, cat or whatever else scurries by too close for its own good.  The chorrizo burrito was mighty tasty. :great:
