I don't know which filter is best.
I prefer the K&N - 303 because of the hex nut on the end that helps with removal/installation.
The hex comes in very handy. (Available at many auto parts stores)

Update to the update...
Rode Arkansas last weekend with the new Muffler set up.
Loved it!!!

Surging/loud/popping that I had with the Muzzy's is gone...
I think the difference is the I.D. of the mid pipes and the muffler ID.
Muzzy's were 2 1/4" ID. The Area P's ID is 2"...

For those that don't want to read back, I have 2008 ZX-14 headers installed w/o catalysts.

Accessories C14 / Re: Handlebars height and angle

I have risers that are 1 5/8" tall and a additionally 1/2 riser with a 1" pullback. (I think I got mine from Murph)
Altogether, mine are 2 1/8" tall.
If you correct for the 1" pullback that's probably equal to about 2 1/2" tall.
        Cables are plenty long..
AST offers risers that are 2" tall, or 1 that is 2" tall and also has a 1" pullback...

I tried the wedges. The change in angle wasn't for me. Removed them quickly...

As you can see there are many options to change your bars.
Just need to pick your option.
If you near Charby, talk with him, or find out about a COG event and attend it.
You'll be able to see others choices.

From your response to MOB’s question about the spark, my best guess would be a loose wire at one coil, or it’s somehow malfunctioning. The rest of what you’re doing sounds wise for a bike sitting that long. MOB, SISF and others know these bikes inside and out, and are generally willing to help. Good luck!  Glad to hear of another bike being returned to service!

That center stand is now practically impossible. Lots of people cut the center stand down when they do this. It is common.

If you know a good shop they can do it easy. But I don't think the ratio is 1.25":1.25"

I didn't think about Murph's. Funny thing is, I ordered the same exact Motion Pro speedo cable from Amazon for $5 less.

I also ordered one of Soupy's adjustable billet aluminum kickstand since I installed lowering links. Question: I lowered the bike about 1.25". I already had trouble with the  center stand before I lowered the bike. I was thinking of taking it to a shop and having them cut an inch section out and weld it back together. Anyone ever do this?

I am thinking about going with Mobil M1-110a, but not sure if it fits. It replaces the old M1-110, which is listed under "oil filters" in the parts section. It is $10 at Walmart and good for extended OCI. I am not planning to change the oil for atleast 7500 miles :)
it fits.

Ptttt, I made it and all were glad to see me!!

Thursday we stopped by Cliff's on the way up and visited with him. (arrived at Jack's late)
Friday we had only a few light showers and rode about 300 miles of fantastic twisties.
Saturday it rained and we set around and talked lied about our riding skills..
Got home Sunday evening.
As I was towing, the trip home wasn't bad.
I suspect everyone else got a serious bath...
{Most of them needed it anyway}..  :rotflmao:

Butch and Marty did a heck of a job putting it on... Saaaaalute!
Overall, it was a great weekend with 1 negative..
That negative is; "so few attended"...
More of ya, shoulda been there!  :motonoises:

How well have you maintained the bike all those 80K miles?

Do a general tune up, plugs, valves, air filter, etc. Try do all the simple top wire ignition related electrical rejuvenation too.

Then, if still a problem send in the carbs for an overhaul. It's probably overdue. Your bike is past it's middle age. It's got some arthritis and clogged arteries.

I think it is your carbs not the petcock (check petcock anyway by pulling a vacuum on it).
