As some of you may know, I am a new AAD for the South Central Region, but in case you don't know, I am also a Shriner. The perception of Shriners is often "old guys in funny hats", which is true, we do have fun, but not all of us are "old". The most important piece of being a Shriner is to serve others, especially children with burns and crippling diseases.

What you may also not be aware of, is the Shrine operates 22 hospitals around the country providing critical services to children, regardless of their ability to pay. And if their parents can't afford the time or expense of transporting them to our hospitals, we provide (free of charge) transportation services and volunteer support. The Shrine is recognized as the "world's largest philanthropy" due to the fact that we invest over $2,000,000 a day in special needs children.

So why do I type all of this, you ask? Because as I said, our goal is to serve others, but to also have fun. On Saturday, May 31st, my Temple, Moslah, in Fort Worth, Texas is hosting a motorcycle ride, concert, and bike raffle at Adam Smith Harley Davidson on Airport Freeway in Bedford, TX. The concert acts include Cooder Graw, Skooter Hall, Waylon Pierce, and Rion Page. FYI - Rion is a former Shrine Hospital patient, and has an incredible story to match an incredible voice.

Registration if you want to ride begins at 8:30 AM, and is $30 which includes concert admission. Or, feel free to come just to the concert which begins at 2:30 PM, for $15.

We're also raffling off a 2014 Street Glide (okay, if you win and don't need a HD, you can sell for C14 farkles), a Big Screen TV, a Big Green Egg, and other prizes. Tickets for the raffle are $50, and limited to the first 3,000.

For more info, please visit Moslahshrine.org. And don't feel bashful to bring your Concours to a HD dealership. You'll have at least one other to park near as I'll be on mine.
