I would like to attend the Barber Vintage Festival to be held over October 12, 13, & 14th........any others planning on going and where are you planning on staying?  I would like to go ahead and make reservations as I am sure that weekend will be booked up pretty fast.

For those of us that doesn't have a clue as to where this is at, can you please give the location and any other information that someone would need to know?

It is in Birmingham, Alabama.  I'm thinking I heard some discussion during the Run With The Wolf rally of there being a fall COG rally at Barber Vintage Motorcycle days.

Ironbutt Al is setting up some sort of camping shindig at the track. Some folks are staying at

http://www.talladegacreekside.com/

Very frugal rates, clean, if not fancy cabins, on a river, large fire pit, tent camping for $10(unless it went up since last year) if you want a quite place instead of the race track craziness.

I've tented at Creekside the last two years, and liked the place. Nice helpful folks run it, and we are generally the only folks there. Now if something is happening at Talladega Nascar track, all bets are off. Rates triple. Probably sold out for race weekends anyways.

Bob, have fun up there. Later.

Thanks Steve, that looks like a good place to stay.  I have kind of gotten out of camping due to having to get up so often during the night with leg cramps.  I think I will try and reserve a cabin.  About how far is it to Barber from there?

This is the most up to date page I've found on this year's event as far as camping at the track is concerned:

Not sure of availablity but I am pretty sure there is a new Hampton Inn right out side of the front entrance to the park.

But being this late there may be no rooms at the inn.

I will be there myself around 11 on Saturday and I will have the brand new 2012 Arabian Candy Concours with no tags.  :)

Now Sunday I will be there early and I will get to do the parade lap around the track at noon.

It was about 45 minutes via freeway, including a construction zone or two. The ride is a bit long, but pretty much everyone that has stayed there has said the drive was worth it for the feel of the place. Not your typical Comfort Inn for sure.

Been the last couple of years, it is a great event at a world class facility.
There is only the one hotel almost directly at the entrance to Barbers.

If you go into B'ham for lodging do your research.

A couple of suggestions for riders wanting to attend this event.
Check out these places for camping or Cabins:
http://www.alapark.com/OakMountain - Cabins and Camping.  Great park and cabins can hold up to 6 people.  Simple drive down Hwy 119 and Grants Mill Road.
http://www.cy-25.com - Cabins and Camping.  The drive is very close, but it does have a couple Dragon like turns.
Finally, Check Leeds and Moody Alabama for hotels.  These are very close to the track and sometimes do not show up on Birmingham searches.

Some guys stayed at the Wingate Inn off 280 and it was in the $40's per night for a nice room. Thats about 15 miles west of Barber, nice area, ton of restaurants and stores if you need anything.

I am on the mailing list for Barber. They just sent an email stating that advance tickets are available for vintage weekend, $40 for the whole weekend. This does not incluide the museum , camping, or other optional stuff.

If interested, y'all may want to buy your tix in advance.

Count one more mouth to feed also.  :great:
If you've got the time some weekend I usually ride down to Guntersville to a bar / restaurant on hwy 69 on the water.
Give me a shout would be nice to meet another Connie rider in the area.

I will ride up from SE Florida - anyone else going from this area?   Probably will stay in Leeds.  Too old to camp!

I am two hours east. Looks like there is potential for an RTE at Triple R BBQ in Scottsboro.   :)

Is there a general concensus on a motel for this event?
