Good day Everyone,
About 20 people have let me know they will be attending the BBQ during the Barber Vintage Festival.
 :beerchug:
We have some good food here in Alabama, and the socializing will be great.
 :D
If you haven't taken a minute to let me know you will be attending, then please email or PM me so that I can add you to the count.
The more people attending, will help keep the price down and the fun up :))

Hide your Husbans, Hide your Wives, Hide your Kids, COG is coming to Leeds.
OK that was corney, but the video was so stupid. http://on.fb.me/KOziB1 ;)

Please remember all of you knuckleheads, Allen Chew needs a head count for anyone coming to the Saturday BBQ in Leeds. See his post, email him to be there, have supper with some of your closest friends. We need a head count a week out for the Q, and there isn't any last minute show up without a reservation allowed. It isn't fair to the folks doing the food prep or the riders that took the time to email Allen. Hope to see everyone there. We'll raffle off a Toyota truck to some luck attendee.               Al

Hey Everyone,
Your Barber Event New's update.

Here's some info. :-\
Not a big concern but they are laying some new asphalt on I-20 in front of the Leeds exits.
This goes about 10 miles in both directions.
Although most of this looks like it will get done before Oct's races, here are some alt routes into Barber's
Off 459 heading north towards I-20 --> you can take Grant Mills exits then Rex Lake Road to Barbers.
I-20 heading west towards Leed's --> Exit 147 Left onto Hwy 78 thur Leeds to Barbers.
I-20 heading east towards Leed's --> Exit 135 Left then Right onto Hwy 78 to Barbers.
Hope this helps a little. :motonoises:

Is anyone staying out at telladega creekside resort? (where we stayed last year)
If no is staying there then  I think I will cancel and move to a hotel closer.

I messed Allen up with some incorrect verbage in a post. While we still need a head count, there is the ability to pay at the door. This doesn't have to be prepaid. I was trying to prevent any surprises "at the door" with too many riders showing up to eat that didn't send intentions to Allen. Sorry for the confusion on this. You'll still be able to pay at the door.....as long as we know you're coming. The mechanics are; the money with online registration kind of goes to the cloud. Now I need to bring cash and pay out of my pocket for all that registered online, and then ask the COG treasurer to reimburse me for a pay out. Not too easy on my end, so if you're going to the BBQ, hold off paying online and just pay at the door. I have a couple of rider friends that are going, I've registered them as guests for the pourpose of having a head count, but they will pay individually at the door.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled programing.            Al

We are riding to Birmingham/Talladega from west Kentucky.  I'd like to get off the interstate after Nashville, if we take I-65 out of Nashville, looks like we could pick-up 431 at exit 37 or take I-24 out of Nashville and get on 231 at Murfreesboro.  The two roads converge in Fayetteville and continue on into Alabama.  431 then runs all the way into Anniston which would get us close to the Creekside Resort in Talladega.  Anyone have any experience with this route?

It can be rather long and flat, and then sometimes just flat long.  Other than that, it's a good road.  :)  If you've got the time, SR 231 out of Huntsville looks like it has the more interesting route judging by the terrain depicted on Google Maps.  No personal experience on SR 231 and some on US 431.

For any forum user that is NOT yet a fully paid SE COG member, and who might be thinking about or trying to decide about joining COG, please read;
If you're considering joining us at Barber Vintage Festival and haven't yet bought you tickets, I have two three day track passes to give to two individuals valued at $40.00 each to give to you as a thank you for joining COG in the southeast area. You'll need to send me your information for email and your new COG number, and we'll make arrangement to get you the track pass when you arrive. If this pushes you over the top for joining, you'll also likely want to attend the Saturday night BBQ in Leeds with us. You essentially get your money back from joining COG, and all of the benefits for you and the bike are free for the rest of the year. Please contact me with a PM or email to ask any questions, and when this offer is filled, I'll repost the information here.
Now get going on this special offer....before it's gone.       Al

Thank you Tom, I appreciate the reply, I'll look at 231, we have all day to get there.  On the interstate Birmingham is only 6 hours from my house.

Hwy 231 through Huntsville is a 4 lane highway but again you are gpoing through Huntsville. If you take 231 all the way to Birmingham it actually takes you away from where you are headed so you have to backtrack some miles and after you get through Arab it is a two lane road and Blountsville BEWARE is a big speed trap.

Hwy 431 is a great road with some mountain areas but you will be going through a lot of small town areas and it's about 2 hours from Huntsville to the Anniston area.

Good luck and be safe.
