Been there, done that. We'll be sneaking into Suches the back way on Thurs afternoon.

Thanks for the offer, though.

Fortunately, scooting around Hotlanta on Tuesday morning. Staying between there and Macon for the night and continuing on around the fun. Thanks for the offer, will maybe consider for the return south if your offering that way too.

No problem guys, unfortunately, it would take me longer to go around so I'll just blast through. But I'm use to it as I have about a 50 mile drive to work every day through the ATL traffic. For the most part, it is a matter of timing and direction which lessons the chaos.

As far as the return, I'm heading out after breakfast on Sunday, live on the south side of Atlanta, so no problem if you want to tag along. But Sunday mornings should not be an issue for any traffic, for the most part, everyone is either still in bed or in church.

Oh yeah, blasting through Hotlanta,,,the memories  :-\
Spent 10+ years in Warner Robins, blasted through many times. I still say Hotlanta is the fastest city in the world  :)) If you aint doing 80, your loafing, and the area around the I-20 interchange can be,,,,,,challenging  ;D

By 2 or 3 in  the afternoon, it stinks. I always targeted for mid day if I had to on a weekday. Pick up 19/400, pay the toll (is it still 50 cents, wonder if my FL EzPass will work  >:D ) and blast on towards Dahlonega, yee haw.

I know before I left the area in '06, it seemed like you had to run through Athens to avoid the Atlanta rush hour traffic jam, that city has growwwwwn.

Vic, yep you get run over if your not running 80. The GA400 toll is still $0.50 even though the GA400 road construction costs have long been paid for. As for using your FL EZPass, give it a whirl but I bet you end up with some paper work in the mail upon your return.

The HOV lanes are a MC friend, so use them if you have them. Word of warning to all, you can only use the HOT (High Occupancy Toll) lanes (I85 from I-285 North) if you have registered your MC with the GA toll, you need a little sticker on your windshield.

Riding through ATL traffic is an adventure. I've had about everything happen to me, so these days I'm a little immune to it all.

Yer a brave fella Kurt, good luck with that BS. I've seen 7 lanes totally stopped in both directions, and that was some yrs ago. Egads!

My Garmin has a big no-no box marked around the Big City.  I've got routes west, south and north of town figured for scooting around her shores.  Have snuck through once or twice, but don't likes it one bit.

I've actually seen the same thing in DC more than once.  DC is one of those places where everyone's from out of town.
