Not an event in mid Flowriduh, help wanted
« on: May 09, 2017, 09:19:58 pm »
I'm looking for a sucker volunteer to take over or a co-aad in central Flowriduh. Since retiring, I'm having to do a bunch of travel in connection with my new duties which consist of see as much as I can before I can't. Tough duty, I know.  ;)

Anyhow, we could use someone to keep things going, especially the summer time breakkie rte's and whatever else comes to mind. It's not hard to do and there is plenty of advice(some of it even helps :rotflmao:). Our new AD, Ron Simmons is a delight to work with, so that angle is covered.

Lemme know, please.

Thanks Steve, you are MUCH appreciated.

As you might have heard, Steve's new Versys came with the "sentence" of "obligatory" self-service trips to awful places like West Texas, North Carolina, North Georgia, and other hardship duties tbd. :rotflmao:  But good man that he is, he has promised to diligently pursue his "obligations" to the new bike while still not forgetting his "friends" who still are shackled to their work.

He's ridden all 11 curves in Floriduh at least twice now and is extending his range. A man's gotta ride, so go man, go!  So as he says, we need a little help keeping the Floridians occupied or they might slip off to the north before leaf season... If you can pitch in, please give one of us a shout.

Thanks Ron. That little six fiddy has 9000 miles on it since mid December and the Roadtrek has about 5000 since then. No moss growing on me.

If desired, I will put together three "ride to"'s

Dates can probably be moved but 6/24, 7/15, and 8/19.

The format would be a 9AM parking lot arrival, 9:30 inside for breakfast, 10:30 kick stands up to head for as much lunch that you want at 12:30.
I think the best is to do the whole thing but the format does allow for a little later breakfast to come from further away, the 10:30 ksu allows showing even later and joining for the ride, the lunch allows others to join us at least for that.

Ride your own route or you can follow me on curvy back roads... we don't turn off without you seeing us.  The first one I would do is Sparky's incredible breakfasts  near Astor to the St. Johns River Grille in Deland (reserved motorcycle parking, great place.

The second is likely a ride that was very popular a decade ago with Breakfast in Ocala near I75, great horse country roads and lunch at gator Joes.

The third would likely be Tavares - Clermont or maybe centered around Brooksville.

Any interest in these helping to fill in for Steve?

Just post 'em up, folks will show(most likely ;) )

I plan on leaving the 30th or 31st. I did just get a jury duty notice(today) for June 2, however. Supposedly I can reschedule for late August.

Thanks again and see you at the Wolf?

edit to add: Iff'n you want, give Ron Simmons(new "temporary" AD) a shout or ping for any help(prizes?). He's on the forum as ron203

Hi guys. Those sound good!  Thanks for stepping up Roy. If I can help in some way please let me know. I won't be able to make these this year (maybe another time?)  'cause I'm up north of Atlanta, but they sound great.

I'm in the COG directory or you can PM for my number if you want to kick these around.

Good luck with that Jury Duty Steve.

Hello all [Ron & Steve], I won't be leading an August ride as I'm going on an eclipse ride in the mountains. So any volunteers to offer up summer rides?

Sounds like a built in event! We're going to have the eclipse pass just over the NE corner of GA. Hope you have a good time. Thanks for picking up some of the slack. If you get by Gainesville GA, give me a shout, maybe we can grab some BBQ.

Don't know of any all night BBQ places, but Waffle House is always open!

Where's the eclipse viewing? Saw a story a week or so ago that it would be full in Rabun county (Clayton / Dillard ) area and the hotels & motels were beginning to fill up with visitor reservations. We'll probably get 80-85% or so. Which day is it anyway?

It looks like I've got to ride over a thousand miles per hour to keep up with it throughout the afternoon.  >:(

FL is the SUNSHINE state, not the NO Sunshine state.... ;D  (but I did catch one in Tallahassee a number of years ago - about 1987 or so)...

The 7/15 one as mentioned in May has just been posted.

I just finished typing the route list from memory because I didn't need to draw this route but I GUARANTEE IT. This takes you through the full flavor of horse country.

The August offer has already been cancelled because I'm chasing the eclipse that weekend.

Beautiful country Roy!

Where are you catching the eclipse? It's crossing N. Ga at Dillard and I understand the motels are already full.

We've got our rooms in Robbinsville NC. I reserved it about a month ago. The eclipse is due there about 2:32PM

Good. I caught one in Tallahassee area once and didn't know really what to expect. Absolutely weird. I'm thinking about riding up to get under it that day unless work DEMANDS that I be someplace else. Have fun.

CCCC #10 is a possibility, as my lawn has grown too much since arriving at Cape Cod the start of May. Thinking about 60 tents would tamp it down well. Use to empty my SECOG budget for this free 4 day rally, so I need to contact Ron to see how we stand budget wise. The TN riders abd Cliff have braved the November cold to make this event before. Let me know what you think about doing this again please. I'd like to reconnect with all of my riding friends. Too much food and beverage is NOT a bad thing.
