« on: May 25, 2017, 12:23:49 am »
So, do we want to organize a SE ride at the Nationals? Monday is out for me so let me know if your interested for a Tuesday or Wednesday ride. I'll be two up looking to ride some where for lunch and pie. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Isn't the national rally an opportunity to connect and ride with people you don't normally? Just sayin'!

Spent last National making sure everything ran smoothly, no opportunity to ride at all. So maybe this year I want to spend some time with my friends in the SE, just sayin'!

I stand corrected, Kay would like to ride with some of her SECOG friends. I keep forgetting I'm just the driver.

I think one afternoon or morning out of the entire National would be fun to ride with the local friends, since it'll be new terrirtory to most of us.

Hmmm. Seems like the last time I went riding with you guys you spent a fair amount of time on the side of the road chasing gremlins.  ;)  Of course that was on the C10 that you worked on. I suspect your 'wing is more reliable as real mechanics do the work on it.  :rotflmao:

Cindy was wondering if Kay has "scoped out" the best pie location. :)  We're probably IN.

Sounds like a plan, we have no agenda at all. We usually just get up and see what happens.

Yeah, I finally found a decent mechanic for the wing, not so much for the Connie.

You all want to do this after the Women's breakfast on Tuesday or on Wednesday? Monday is out for us as we will be recovering from our 12 hour day getting to Lake of the Ozarks from New Orleans. Let me know which day would work for you all. I think I have a pie spot scoped out, Kay let's me do the pie searching.

I've an obligation on Tues. afternoon (Seminar on Leading a Ride) so Weds. would be my choice so as to not be rushed.

Wednesday Thursday works for us.

KSU @ 9am 830am at the main Lodge entrance?

I'll work on a route that includes lunch and pie.

Upon further reflection, there may be a "fly in the ointment."  Tony Konen was/is putting together some Challenge Rides (2-up and solo) similar to what was done in Cortez and Helen but I don't see them on the schedule.  As Tony is a good friend, Cindy and I want to support his efforts and participate in the 2-up (perhaps you and Kay as well).

Katie and I had fun last year in Helen with those and I thought there was a reference to those somewhere as well.  I'd hate to miss either one of these.

Due to the Wednesday challenge ride, which is not on the rally schedule, we will do the SE ride on Thursday, KSU at 830am in front of the main lodge entrance. Lunch will be at Missouri Hick BBQ ( http://missourihick.com ) in Cuba, MO. After lunch we will ride over to Rolla for pie at A Slice of Pie ( http://asliceofpie.info ).

Ride time is about 5 hours or 226 miles, with two hours for lunch and pie. So figure back to the Lodge of Four seasons about 330p - 4p.

FYI, all friends of the SE are welcome as well. Pace will be leisurely, if others want to turn and burn, they are welcome to jump a head and wait on the rest of us.

Attached is the proposed GPX route, not set in stone so if you have better ideas, let me know.

All, this is an unofficial SE ride (to eat BBQ & Pie), as you know, COG does not have/hold official rides due to liability concerns. So, officially, Kurt & Kay are riding to eat BBQ & Pie and should some of the members of the SE decide to ride along, then so be it.  :)

So, that being said, everyone should know the destination and should ride their own ride to the restaurant. You should have about 100 miles of fuel as we will stop in Cuba by the interstate for fuel just before we get to the restaurant. If we are running short on time, after we eat pie, we may just return directly, but we can make that call after pie. I would like to return about 330p - 4pm so we have some time before the festivities start.

So far we have:

Kurt & Kay
Jim & Cindy
Jen
Ken
Ed
Tim & Belinda
Jorge & Irene
Ron & Katie
