Looking for direct comparison RS III and Q3+ grip
« on: September 26, 2018, 09:53:38 pm »
Hello All,

Time for a change soon, have been very disappointed with PR2, 3 and 4.. all of them wore early and weirdly.. could be my suspension or style.

Anyway want to take advantage of Dunlop rebates and 2 well reviewed tires.. Has anyone tried BOTH models to give a comparison?...

I have read all I could on the forum about each tire..leaning towards the Q3, I am willing to give up longevity for abundantly more grip- but if it is only a little more grip for a lot of miles.. would go RS!!!.

Also, Im a fair weather rider- I have no reason for a cold/wet weather tire.. and if i get caught in the rain i ride like a granny.

Last trip in the mountains lost traction a couple time in the dry and it was scary.. 2008 non ABS, non traction control

your input is appreciated.

The Q3 is pretty grippy but I have found the RS just as grippy. I got 3500 miles out of a Q3 rear, 9800 on the RS.
If you don't have time to do it right, when do you have time to do it over.                                                                17" wheels, Nissin 4 piston calipers.1kg Sonic Springs.Cartridge Fork Emulators. KB Brace. Galfer brake lines  Free power mod.

I just put on the RSIII on my 08 a few weeks ago. I then went on an 1,800 mile trip with them and they did great! Felt very comfortable in corners and didn't feel like I was going to lose traction at any time. They only that one ride on them so the wear is minimal at this point.

The Q3+ is a sport/track tire, the RS is a sport touring tire. I ran Q3s on my track bike, an SV650. I would not run the Q3 on my Concours.
