Pilot Road 4 or Road 4 GT?
« on: September 04, 2018, 01:48:05 pm »
Due to a tiny staple, and local dealers that won't fix my tire because of "liability issues", I'm getting a new rear tire on my 2012.  The dealer has the Road 4 in stock at $179 + install, but now I'm wondering if I should get the GT since the Connie is pretty heavy.  Thoughts, experiences, anyone?

Thanks!

2012 CBR1000 - mostly my son's bike, but a fun ride!
1985 V65 Sabre - died in collision with a trailer
1983 CB650 - died in a head on with a 77 thunderbird
1981 KL250 - ridden to death

I have run both, if you are one up the the PR4 is ok, two up I prefer the GT.

The GT is about 1/2 inch taller so the turn in is a little quicker.

Eric; Which size will you be installing? 190/50 or 190/55?

I was aware the 190/55 is taller than the 190/50.
Wasn't aware the GT itself was taller than the other.
New learning..
  :great:

Was a little confusion. The GT is the same size as std.
Difference is 190/55 vs 190/50.

Ride safe, Ted

I was planning on staying with the stock size.  Is there any real advantage to going with the bigger tire?  I live in Nebraska (straight roads) and don't try to see how fast I can take on ramps before crashing, so extra lean angle isn't a selling point!   :)

Sounds like the 190/50 will be fine for you.
The 190/55 handles slightly different and that extra 1/2" also raises the seat height.
(Which is a negative for short folks like me).

Unless your riding 2 up or the bike is heavily loaded for trips, the std will probably be ok too.
  (and it's cheaper)

PR4GT installed last night.  Now I have the less than great battleaxe in the front and a good tire on the rear!
