I'm anal about pressures, and have always run @ 42 cold, and ride almost 100% 1-up with light loading.

I'm the same.
I've run 38psi on my 08 and I don't believe it minimized center tread wear, at all.
I observed, at 38psi, that excessive "cupping"/unusual wear was more prevalent, based on that dual compound and I still had that flat-to-curve transition.
To me, there's a noticeable differenceI in the feel of the front tire in heavy cornering/braking, at 38psi.

I tried a Metzler single-compound soft set and it was an awesome setup. They were toast at 1800 miles and they were not inexpensive.
