Title: Why I use Dunlop Q3+'s
Post by: Deepsea on September 23, 2017, 01:30:43 am
Down hill decreasing radius almost going to fast? Keep pushing the handle bar, lean some more, it's rock solid.

Nice! I love the Q3's on my ZX-10 until I went to the Michelin Power RS.....fantastic! So I am thinking instead of PR-4 on the Connie, why not the RS and screw it if they last 1500 or 2K miles! So far they are holding up very well but then the 10 at 426 lbs fully fueled is rather lithe. Gawd I hate these BT-021's the PO put on.

Nice battle scars!

I've kept a logbook since owning the C14. The average milage I get with the Q3's has been 5.5-6k rear and 7-7.5k front. I do have Ohlins front and rear with a carbon fiber front wheel so that has an effect. You can really push this bike and it just keeps answering with solid performance.

Nice as I am thinking about going from a 190 to a 200 and it is available in the Q3s. I also like the fact that they are built in the good old USA.

I have about 8K on my Q3 on the C14.  :great:

The rear is getting a fair flat spot on it but still handles pretty well.

Even though I like the Q3 I now have a set of the RoadSmart III waiting to go on the C14 next.
The price after rebate was $149 for a set - I thought that was a deal I shouldn't let pass by.

Next set to go on my Busa will be the Q3+s - Going to wait till Dunlop has another rebate going to pull that trigger.  ;D

That's good mileage for the Fat ninjas, My ZX-10 eats the Q3 rears at 4K...to the cords. Hmmm,

Well, the 10 does have HP and torque, but I know there are C-14 guys and gals that can out ride me..I am old to boot!
Lots of variables I know, like pressure and load weight and temps.  I may just try a set of Q3's or Michelin RS on the Connie next.

SilverConnieRider,

One thing I have learned with Q3's is when they start looking flat or "Almost" worn out you've got 100 miles or less remaining.

When the wheel was in the right position I saw the cords showing on the Q3's so that was the last time they were on the road.
Tires removed and RS III are on now.  Time will tell but I'm hoping for more miles which shouldn't be hard to get vs. the Q3's on the C14.

I know with the Q3+'s I'm sacrificing some miles and $$. I ride Hard. When beta testing Steve's Mountain Runner Flash the tires allowed me to push very hard. They are rock solid and predictable enough that I can "Step out" the rear when exiting a fast corner. No other tire on the FatNinja has ever been predictable enough for me to be comfortable pushing it that hard. There are other softer tires but most shred much to fast on a very heavy bike.

I'd like to hear what you have to say about the RS III's.

Good to know!! I always wondered about the q3's (a fantastic tire - maybe the best sportbike tire on the planet) but thought the Connie was too heavy for them...and the wear

Oh yea!!! These are the tires. I have got almost 1,000 miles on my first set of Q3 Plus and have repeatedly dragged the pegs on both sides. My chicken strips are non-existent. If you want to ride and lean these are the tires.

Glad to hear you're enjoying these tires :motonoises: :great: . Be aware that when the wear indicators reach the tires' surface you've got at best maybe 100 miles left.  :truce:
