Your thoughts on tire age
« on: October 04, 2013, 07:25:05 pm »
Howdy, I jumped on a sweet sale at Motosport.com last week, picking up a combo set of PR2's for $199 delivered (they're sold out now) and squirreled them away while waiting to wear out the OEM's. Noticed they were manufactured in early 2011. I probably won't mount them up until maybe early spring depending on how much riding I do between now and then.
So,
I'm on the Lee Parks website looking at gloves and other stuff and notice his "accurate tire gauge" http://www.leeparksdesign.com/catalog_product_detail.asp?cat=530-3637&product=1310186  with helpful tire info printed on it and see that at least according to Lee Parks, my new tires are almost out of spec... I'm likely just going to mount them up and not worry about it.
Thoughts?
Thanks
Ed

I wouldn't worry about it.

I think the press has made a little too much about this in recent years. As long as they are stored properly, they'll be just fine.
