Starting at the top menu, selecting sport bike, then tires, Avon, etc. Does not look like they have these in stock. They are only showing 3 - 3D X-M sizes. The 120/70-70 front, and two 17 rears.

Success!!!   Avon agreed!  :))

I asked Vic Salisbury to handle the details as he is COG's Industry Liason.
With his help, the details were worked out and Avon is giving us certificates for a couple of Avon tires to use as door prizes in Johnson City!!!

Below is the last note I received from Sukoshi.
If anyone is interested they can go to these sites.

NOTE: I also received info from her on how to read numbers on the tire, and a lot of other facts that are available from Avon.
If anyone wants, PM me and I'll send it to you. Not sure I can attach it here.

Ride safe, Ted

Have fun, send pix for us to post on FB and pls have your members like us. www.facebook.com/avonmoto. They are welcome to post testimonials on www.avonmoto.com/testimonials. We send people a cap for doing that.

While some sizes have been released, I do not believe this one is out yet. (even though the release date has come and gone I think)

Keep us updated Ted.  Looking to purchase tires in the next month for a trip.  Sounds like this will be my next set if I can purchase them.

I spoke with Sukoshi at avon today. There is a mold problem, don't expect to see the 3dxm in the 16" size till june... if we're 100% lucky. Steve

Chlorox or 409 usually works to kill mold.     :D

I was not at work Thurs/so I didn't see Sukoshi's note until today.
Steve has already covered what she said. Here is a little more detail.

HI Ted,
The 110/80R18 and 120/70R18 tires are produced and available for shipping. Distributors have them on order so I anticipate we will see tires coming in over the next 3-4 weeks in these sizes if not earlier.

(Rear 16" Tire): The UK is just doing a 10 off build today. Unfortunately they had issues with the initial tread die and had to get a new tread die which has caused that size to be 2 months behind schedule. This can happen when you are coming out with a new tire and of course it just has to be with that size.

As I know more I will keep you updated and it would be extremely lucky if tires were in the country in time for the rally. Everything would have to fall into place and the tires get on a container to the US and land in a distributor warehouse within a month for you to get the tires in time.

Wish I could give you a concrete answer but with tire production it’s always like this on new product.

Cheers Sukoshi

NOTE: She also said,,,, They have to do endurance tests and rig tests as well.
To which I replied: I happen to know a couple Hundred Volunteers that would be willing to test the tires for you...
She replied: Thanks on the volunteering. We do have several out with magazine journalists.

Bottom line: There is an outside chance that the Front Tires will be available in time for the National.
But, there is almost no chance that the Rear Tires wil be in the US in time...
                    Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......................  >:(

Ride safe, Ted

I'm happy with my Bridgestones right now, but depending on the feedback on these new Avons I may try one this Fall when my rear tire needs replacing. Always nice to have another option, especially for odd sizes like the C10 uses. Kudos Avon!

I really hope this new tire wears better.  I just did 1004 miles with my wife and full luggage and used up 4/32 of a 9/32 new Azaro rear tire!  But it sure stuck well on tight turns.

Ted, no. I got a phone call from a gent at Avon two weeks ago and was told this particular size was still in development. Probably won't be released until sometime early next year. So, I ordered another Azaro to get me through!

I went to the Avon site and they had the 16 in size listed and a clickable "shop" button.  That took me to a vendor by the name of M&M Cycles.  I could select the tire and proceed to checkout.  The tire had a 29% discount on a $246 tire for an out the door price of $173.  Did not complete the checkout as I am not ready to commit until I get the front tire size resolved.    I should put new "sneakers" on my '04 soon.

Can anyone help me with the "best" way to go on the front tire.  110/80/18 or 120/70/18?  Some posts on the forum indicate that the 04 has a 3" wheel and not a 3.5" wheel and Avon's site also indicates the acceptable size of the rim.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
