Is it an illusion or trick of the light in the last picture of the aired tire that the bead of the tire and rim at 3 o'clock don't seem to match?

No illusion..
Simple fact is car tires have a different bead configuration, thus the reason many of us refute them being used on an m/c rim....

Boomer, are the Avon 3D X-M tires available in Eu?
If so,,, do you have 1 installed?
If so,,, what do you think of it?
Should be available now. Avon told me end of May.
No, I don't have one fitted yet.
Otto is down with a nasty crunchy noise down low somewhere when ya shut the throttle.
I'm hoping it's the alternator chain tensioner (kit on order) but may be gearbox.
I can't complain at 180,000 miles and I do have another motor to swap in (Sanji's rebuilt 86 motor with 120K before the rebuild)
Besides the Azaro on there still has maybe 3,000 miles in it yet.  :motonoises:

dafuq revy?  :-\  LOOOL!!!  :rotflmao:

The close up making the tire look huge reminded me of the monoliths from 2001: A Space Odyssey (hence the music).  Three monoliths are discovered with the largest of them being TMA-2.  This "machine of unknown origin" eventually opens a stargate that takes Commander Dave zipping through hyperspace at unimaginable speeds and with conceptually unsurvivable acceleration.

It was either this music or something from Star Wars.   :)
Now I'm heading back out to the shop to get busy.

Any pics with the wheel on the bike to see the side to side fender clearance and how it looks overall?
Thanks

Let me start by saying I don't have a bone in this debate.  I really could care less what tire someone mounts on their bike.

but

today a friend and I went to a dealer where we know the Service Manager fairly well.  In our conversation, he pointed out a wrecked Honda GL1800 that had just come in.  We were looking at the damage and that is when he stated that the rear tire appears to be the cause of the accident.  He then mentioned that the Honda had a car tire mounted on the rear.

Here are the pics of the tire

I would like to see the inside of that tire? Almost looks like a low tire pressure failure??  Don't ask why I have seen tires fail due to lack of air??  :-[

when I lived down in the Phoenix area we saw low pressure blowouts a lot.  contractor trucks were hired by tire storess to drop nails and dry wall screws all over the place.  with the low air pressure and the extreme summer heat, the tires would do this any time they got low on air.  lots of sidewall flex and the sidewall over heated and disintegrated.   I had 2 do that to me.  one on a pickup and one on a van.

that brings up a motorcycle tire comment.  I well preface this by letting you know ahead of time that it was hearsay among some other riders, but the discussions was along the lines that MC tires have such stiff sidewalls compared to car tires so they won't blow out like car tires do.  they get squishy/squirmy/squirrely when low/flat but won't suffer a catastrophic blowout by design (safety feature).  Does anyone know if this is actually true???

ok, i swapped out wheels on the NON turbo bike and took it for a quick ride tonight, i think i might need to air it up a bit more (at 32 now) but here is MY personal first impression of a CT on a bike:
to me the bike has a heavier feel to the steering esp at low speeds (1st gear creeping) and at speed it's abit more flat feeling kinda like a bike with  bad  steering head bearings (heavy) in a way but in the corners it felt solid and VERY solid straight line (read this will be perfect for the turbo bike)  :great: and now i will post pics...dial up...NEVER MIND!!!!
